We have been under severe weather for most of the day here including tornado warnings. We actually have to get prepared for the upcoming months just for the tornados. Anyhow, tonight while listening to the hail come down I had just completed my swap cards for our local scrapbook store, which are due tomorrow. I had to made 6 cards and it actually worked out great with the colors.
The color challenge was to use baha breeze, kiwi, and pretty in pink. When I make swap cards, I like to try different things on them, so I found this tutorial by Dawn's Stamping Thoughts shown here called The Open Swing Top Card http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad...top-card-.html. I followed her instructions but added a piece of c/s to the back on the card. I started out with dp that was double sided, that way it would go quicker and easily matched with the other side of dp. I cut the dp's accordingly. I used the zig zag border punch for dp on the bottom half. I kinda goofed up with this because I wasn't paying attention. I accidently used the zig zag punch on one more dp but figured out later that it was the opposite side, because I came up short. Luckily I had more of this dp. Ok, on to the card. I added a brad to the edge through the dp's and the base of the card with a brad. This way it would open and close.
I stamped the bird with black ink onto white c/s. I colored it with prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. Adhered to green c/s. It is held on with foam tape and tiny piece of tacky tape, but only on the top half and I adhered it to the yellow dp. I stamped the sentiment onto the green c/s and added a flower brad. I also added the ribbon. I really enjoyed making these and I hope they like them. I always wait until the last minute, don't know why. Have a wonderful night!
