I love doing dominoes. I like to give them as little "Just Because" gifts, usually sending them along with a note or letter. These have magnets attached to the back.
The center tree domino was a patched up mistake. I'd done the background then stamped the trees in Stone Gray. I hated it so sprayed the thing heavily with alcohol and mopped it off with a paper towel. There was a slight stain of color left, but not enough so I couldn't do it over.
I tried again, using the same 3 colors, but before blotting onto the domino, I sprayed the applicator several times with alcohol. That made it very runny on the domino and I smeared it around, dabbed and sprayed more alcohol on the applicator and dabbed around somemore. Finally, I was satisfied. Then, instead of gray, I stamped the trees with StazOn Forest Green.
I've found it's easiest to lay the domino onto the inked stamp. At least it works better for me. I often use stamps that are a lot bigger than the domino.
I inked the tree stamp then laid the domino on it. I pressed it down quite firmly, let it relax, then pressed it again.
I like the way the ink smooshed to the edges and left a shaded effect.

Hi Kathleen:
Thank You!
The dominoes are from WalMart. It's a double six set. The come in a nice tin and cost about $3.00. They are a pale ivory in color.
I sand all the shine off of the backs of the dominoes with a super fine sandpaper.
The colored dots are on the other side. I like the "dimples" for the dots. I figure it lets my glue sink into something and will mabe hold the magnets on in a stronger fashion.
I didn't spray coat these. I think the alcohol and StazOn inks will hold-up ok. If I use other inks on them, I spray them with a clear, matte sealer after they've dried.
I spray them before I leaf the edges. I don't like what the matte sealer does to the leafing.
This technique is fast and easy. I really enjoy making them. I just plain love dominoes. Their shape and feel are very pleasing to me.
