I chose this card in KarenÂ’s gallery to be inspired by. I changed the shade of green and honestly hate the color of mine but thought IÂ’d try to use the paper. IÂ’m certainly not an olive green fan, I go more for the hunter shade!
I wanted to keep her basic layout and width of borders but changed to an A2 (4.25 x 5.5”) sized card. Her image is to the right, mine to the left and I dropped the sentiment and switched the hemp to thread and paper feature, also changed images. I’ve had this rectangle mask in my head for a while now so the challenge was a nice push and it got me away from my oval masks at last!
-For a mask: I just cut four strips of paper the width I wanted and placed them on the panel as a guide and glued the corners together. This was how I did my first mask of this type in the old days, I still have my 2002 mask in an envelope but none were the size I needed for this card. The color was sponged on. I also sponged the card base and envelope.
Before I removed the mask I stamped the backgrounder on using the finger walking technique. This is inking up the rubber face up on your stamping surface, lay the cardstock on the rubber and walk your fingers across. This will give only a partial covering on the cardstock.
-Stitching is done on the machine with thread ends taped to the back.
-Corner feature is from the Vintage Corners for the Cuttlebug.
-To attach my buttons I put a touch of Diamond Glaze to hold them on and used a needle and thread to attach them. It helps to poke holes through the cardstock before starting the sewing so it guides you on the back side.
