I thought I was going to make an owl card for my second inspiration challenge. Forgot about owls being nocturnal - my owl inspiration is, anyway. So I made this instead, which was what I had picked out first before I fell in love with the chickens.
I found this butterfly paper sculpture in the wall art section of HunkyDory, http://www.hunkydoryhome.co.uk/hunky.../butterfly.jpg, and liked the way the wings were done with circles and ovals. I changed the colour scheme, though. I think the new SU oval punch would be perfect, but I don't have it so I used the Fiskars ShapeCutter and ovals template, and a 1 1/8" circle punch. The body is a template for a moth body from Fiskars website, which I'd made a few years back with the kids I used to mind. I just scaled it down a whole lot and made the body longer and narrower, and added antennae cut from the same card, with a dab of gold Liquid Pearl on the ends.
Background paper is Cherry Arte, layered onto beige and blue Bazzill. I added some Bazzill flowers, edged with a blue Sakura stardust pen. The butterfly circles and flower centres are also Cherry Arte. I knew I shouldn't have laughed so much at Mothermark's saga. I'd punched out the only two circles the right size that didn't have any other circles overlapping them. Two circles, on a whole sheet of 12x12. I stuck the butterfly together, and then I added the antennae. And then one of the circles was missing. It's still missing...I tried several different circles, which was how I ended up with the little circles and snaps in the centres of the wings...The ovals are from a Joanna Sheen Asian pad, sponged with Yellow Cadmium. When I decide what it's for I will possibly add a sentiment along the bottom, but DH says it's one he doesn't want me sending to anyone for a long time.
