This card is my submission for the Inspiration Challenge for Elum Journals/Papers and the inspiration here is the colors in this flat gift wrap, Lattice Canary: http://www.elumdesigns.com/shop/eco-...ary-gift-wrap/
This card is also a Sneak Peek of a fabulous new stamp set called "Christian Sympathy" to be released February 1st by Clear Dollar Stamps. I adore the typeface used in all the sentiments included in this set, and there are several. This stamp set can be used for expressing sympathy, concern or prayer cover for that special friend. Because the sentiments are so beautiful in this set, it easily lends itself to simple adornment with scoring or flower embellishment.
INSTRUCTIONS:
A 5"x 5"" card base was cut from Paper Trey White Cardstock and set aside. Two square mats were cut to size: Yellow - 4.5" x 4.5", White 4" x 4". The white mat was scored at .5" on all four corners using a Scor-Pal. Using a Fiskars Embossing System, I embossed the 4 squares on the white mat in all 4 corners. The two mats were glued together and set aside.
The main stamped image was first stamped using the fern stamp from the Clear Dollar Stamps "Genuine Love" stamp set, using Stampin' Up! Mellow Moss on Paper Trey White Cardstock. Next, the sentiment was overstamped on the ferns using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The stamped sentiment was cut out using Nestabilities Labels One Die and using Tsukineko Sponge Daubers, I first lightly sponged around the sentiment mat using Stampin' Up! Barely Banana Ink and then more heavily along the edge using Stampin' Up! So Saffron Ink. Using a Paper Piercing Tool, I freehand paper pierced around all four sides of the sentiment mat. I cut a framing mat for the sentiment mat using Nestabilities Labels One Die out of Colormates Medium Spring Green Cardstock, and paper piercing around all four sides, as well. The sentiment mat was then popped up on American Crafts Dimensionals on top of the green larger mat. Both mats were popped up on the same Dimensionals overtop the white, scored mat..
The floral ornament was created with Paper Flowers from Spare Parts and a green jeweled brad from Making Memories. The foliage around the flower was created out of Paper Trey White Cardstock and Colormates Medium Spring Green Cardstock with a Martha Stewart Leaf Punch. The leaves and the flower were then anchored to the card, using a brad and adhesives. I created a "stacked ribbon" using a 5/8" wide strip of Offray Sage Satin Ribbon and a 3/8" strip of Mini Spool Yellow & White Striped Ribbon gluing the two together with Duck Tape Runner. I anchored a strip of the stacked ribbon diagonally across the upper left corner of the card, and then tied a separate, matching bow and attached to the stacked ribbon diagonal strip using Zots. To finish, the card front was glued to the white cardstock base.
