I made this for my Secret Sister in the WishRAK Mardi Gras Exchange. There are several requirements for this exchange - one of which was to include something altered and you had to use the traditional Mardi Gras colors - purple, green, and gold (or shades of those colors). None of these colors are really my favorite, so I decided to use shades of those colors that I could live with. A while ago, Nichole Heady posted on her blog how she stores her ribbon. She uses these cute ribbon jars and wraps her ribbon on these old fashioned wood clothes pins. So, I thought I'd make one of these for my Secret Sister. I found the jar at Hobby Lobby for $2.50, I found the wooden clothes pins at the Dollar Tree for $1.00 (20 per pkg.), and then I picked up a bunch of different fun ribbons at both Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Each clothes pin has at least 5 yds. of ribbon on it, and there are over 20 spools in the jar. That's a pile of ribbon in a pretty small space, huh?!! I altered the lid of the jar using some ribbon, buttons, sticky strip, and some Circle Classic and Scalloped Nestabilities. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. In fact, I liked it so much that I got enough stuff to make two for myself - one for ribbon, and one for buttons. I hope my Secret Sister likes it, too!! Thanks for looking!

Love this! I wish I had joined the Mardi Gras exchange, but I'm looking forward to the next one. The Christmas exchange was so much fun! Your jester will love the ribbon jar. I'm going to do this for all the ribbon I have that's not on a spool. TFS!
