The fourth challenge of the January Mini “Crush” VSN was to make a “treasure box” for something special. I made this box to set in our china cabinet to hold some of my Limoges buttons and brooches. I chose the colors to coordinate with my collection of dresser sets painted with “Forget Me Nots”.
I made the box using BeateÂ’s tutorial for making an A2 box although I modified the dimensions. I made a lid with embellished corners. I couldnÂ’t find a dark enough paper that matched the blue with the same vintage feel so I cut the corners and lace trim from the same paper and colored it with ink.
Even though the paper I used was fairly sturdy card stock, I also lined the box with more coordinating card stock just to add to the richness and to simulate using multiple tapestry type fabrics on a fabric box. I added a button and tassel to the top of the box and embellished the corners and stamped and embossed a fancy heart inside the cover.
