I have been VSN'ing without the benefit of a computer this weekend (I'm borrowing one right this second)...but I didn't want to miss out. So I did the challenge without seeing the sample. A girlfriend gave me the description over the phone (hurray for friends)!
For this challenge, all I knew was to incorporate a woven section of paper...I think I went a little overboard . I had a bunch of metallic paper scraps out, and I pictured them woven together. And what would be appropriate with woven metal? A butterfly of course! I pictured it coming out of the cocoon that it had woven as a caterpillar.
It's hard to see in the photo, but the copper and gold strips run vertically, and the silver and not quite navy strips run horizontally. I matted the weaving in more mustard patterned paper (the weaving turned out a little bigger than planned), and then matted everything in not quite navy. And the butterfly is painted with twinkling H20's, with some silver cord.
I'd like to try the weaving concept again, now that I've seen all the cool cards that everyone else came up with!

very glitzy, and I like the idea of the cocoon! Very nice card, this could easily go for a guy or lady. Thanks for playing and thanks to your friend for helping you. She gets bonus points!

Your card is really great. I especially noticed how your strips are all different widths. What a cool look!
Congratulations on a VSN winner.
