I don't normally do the colour challenges, what with not having any SU colours. But I didn't want this to be the only HCE that I passed on, so I've done my best!
Maybe because I don't do them, or maybe just because it's not how my mind works, I find it very hard to use colours as a way into a card. So I used the sketch for the Fan Club this month, and also made it a card to suit the central theme - so this card celebrates Walking the Dog Day - http://holidayinsights.com/moreholid...walkdogday.htm. I did it when my Dad was here for Christmas, we went to the nearby park which is the biggest urban park in Europe, and the dog had a ball. It was very muddy - a case of wellingtons rather than high heels. And in the days when I lived at home and took the dogs walking on the beach or up in the woods or hills I was usually barefoot. And I didn't wear pink - so this is not, never was and never will be me :-).
The colours for the challenge were Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Basic Black and a neutral. I took a look at the cards that had been posted for the challenge and decided that BG Euphoria was going to my best starting point.
So, I stamped Robin on two patterned papers for her hat and trousers, once on white for skin colour and once on the background. Hey, I thought I'd done enough paper piecing this week already, but that's life. The narrow strip down at the side represents the dog's collar. Shame I didn't think to add the buckle before I stuck it down!! I even drew tiny little gems on her collar with a Sakura Stardust pen, but I doubt you can see them in the photo. The flower in the bottom left corner is only there because of the sketch. I was nearly going to say the dog was that little element. But I had Primas that were just right, so they are there, and I thought once I'd added an embossed border that helped it look as if it belonged. And hey, dogs are notorious for smelling everything, why not a flower?? To get a photo showing the embossing, I'm afraid Robin's trousers are a bit over-exposed - but at least she isn't.

Love this, Sabrina! Such a chic gal with her doggie! Your layout is scrumptious and I like the dry embossing on the edges of the red panel. Fantastic! tfs
