While I couldnÂ’t play every one of the wonderful challenges the SCS hostesses put together for us for the New Years Eve celebration, I did manage to combine two challenges into this one card.
For challenge #SCSNYE06, Cindy (KY Southern Belle) challenged us to make a card with an Asian theme and Ashley (HeartHugsDesigns) challenged us with a limited supply challenge #SCSNYE03 in which all embellishments had to be either shimmery, glittery or sparkly.
I used a wonderful Washi paper from Mothers and Daughters Creations as my background paper. Since the paper has butterflies, I embellished a chipboard butterfly with “Perfect Pearls”, rhinestones, and metallic gold acrylic paint.
The Washi paper is from Japan and features gold and silver flowers and butterflies with shimmery magenta, pale orange, and greens. I added some more punched gold butterflies and rhinestones for glitz, an ornate corner cut from metallic gold paper, and a gilded greeting matted in the same gold.
I thought about glitter too late – I wish that I had thought to edge the gilded border of my chipboard butterfly with fine gold glitter before I glued it down.
I did make a border for the inside message panel with a scrap of the Washi paper edged with the same lace paper punch that I used on the cover.

Wow! This is so pretty! I love the butterflies with all those gold accents! And that flourish in the corner is just fantastic! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
