Well, it is that time of the month again, for the dirty girls (past and present) to throw down a challenge and see what becomes of it.
This month's challenge was:
Challenge Focus: A Christmas/Hanukah/Winter Card inspired by a childhood holiday memory or favorite thing about the season.
Required Element: Wrapping paper. Use a piece of holiday wrapping paper on your card in some way.
Restricted Element: No snowflake stamps, papers or embellishments.
Well, this was an easy one for me as I grew up in Northern California, near the coast and we never saw snowflakes... oh, maybe once every 10 years a few would fly, but they didn't stick!
Growing up in the 70's, I thought of a cool Santa... one with shades and a glass of lemonade to shield him from the warm California sun. Doesn't he remind you of Jerry Garcia?!
Since we lived just minutes from the shore, I thought my 70's Santa would also likely own a candy cane surf board. Dude!
Anyway, this is my project/card. I made a box to put it in and used some wrap for the belly band. I am going to give it to my cousin Judy, whom I grew up with! She now lives here in Colorado, too
Stamps: sentiments are handwritten; lemonade glass by There She Goes (tea for two); starfish by My Favorite Things (Isabelle Paper Doll set); Holly Leaves by Hambo stamps.... everything else is handdrawn or punched

Hey this is really cool, Dude! I especially love your Santa. Grew up in New England myself, still here and today are burried under 13 inches of snow! Not fun, but your card is!

Girl, you got outta Buffalo in the nick of time, we are buried here with more to come!! And it is a bitter 14 degrees this morning. Greg is on his third pass with the snowblower. I could really go for some of the CA weather! Your project came out great, love the santa and his swirly beard. Miss you, hope all is well!
