Hi, thanks for looking at my card! Still working on my photography skills, so thanks for bearing with me. (I had to take the picture super quick in bad lighting because I am in a rush to catch the postal carrier today).
I used the Cuttlebug Birthday Wishes embossing folder as the focus of my card. The card took off in a direction I hadn't originally intended from here. Sadly, the "It's Your Day!" die that accompanies the set that I wanted to use did not work - MY CUTTLEBUG DOES NOT CUT!! :( I have never tried before and only used my CB for embossing, so I am very disappointed and a little upset. So I had to improvise.
I chalked the candles with my SU pastels (not thrilled with the look) and then painted the flames with Shimmerz Candle Light (appropriate no?). This was my first time trying out the Shimmerz, and I must tell you, I LOVE this stuff! If you haven't tried it, I DEFINITELY recommend it! Matted the "happy birthday" sentiment from SU's "A Greeting for All Reasons" on black paper, added black eyelets on either side and threaded a bright blue ribbon through for added color and fastened the whole thing to the cardstock with pop dots.
Thanks for looking at my card. Have a good day!

nice job on the card - love the colored candles.
does your bug cut with other dies such at nesties? I've had trouble with mine cutting with cb dies too. I got the snowflake one and found that I had to kinda press the white foam on the die down to expose the blade a little more - know what I mean? Just keep working the die through the machine a few times and it'll get better.

Dig into the bottom of your CB box and pull out the extra shim. You should be using two B shims to dry emboss against the thicker white shim, but there is a third shim in there that is designed for thinner dies, and it used for cutting. Use it with ONE of the B shims! It will have a letter C on it. I think of it as C for cutting, B for emBossing. It should work like a charm!! Good luck. Your card turned out great, by the way. I love the pearled flames.
