So, this month's MFT guest designer challenge was to use watercolors. I am NOT a watercoloring person. In fact, I don't own anything aside from 6 watercolor pencils from when I was in grade school... Hah. No reinkers, no pearlescent watercolors, nothing...
So with a basic red, yellow, orange, blue, and green colored pencil set I decided that I'd tackle this "challenge". And yeah... definitely a challenge.
I completely waterwashed the entire tree background image so the trees have a slight glow to them from the leaf colors. I let the colors spread out purposely - next time I think I'd control where the colors spread a little more rather than just letting them take their course but I think it gives a nice foresty look to it - creepy shadows and all. The headless lady was colored in colored pencils and then I applied water to them. The background of the image and the ground were created by coloring the desired color on a separate piece of paper and dipping a wet brush in it to grab the color.
