I made this card for Technique Lover’s Challenge #TLC192 in which we used decorative napkins transferred to freezer paper. The napkin I chose was a perfect background for the card I wanted to make for FS90, CASE-ing a card from October 26th’s Featured Stamper, “SpeedyStamper”, Kay Kalthoff. Kay’s Joyful Blossoms features one of my favorite stamp sets, Blossom’s Abound (SU!).
It has taken several tries to put this card together. I tried all of the alternative techniques – plastic grocery bags, plastic wrap, even plastic dry cleaning wrap – to transfer the napkin to a backing with no success. I finally sent hubby on a mission to get some freezer paper. Instant success!
On the inspiration card, Kay stamped the second layer of blossoms in gold for an absolutely stunning effect. I had earmarked that card for that challenge and then when this challenge was announced the next day, it all came together: I had the perfect napkin, a lavender and green floral print embellished in gold. This napkin is round, with a scalloped edge, and I captured that scallop in the lower right corner of the card.
What I Changed: In CASE-ing Kay’s card, I used the same stamp set, basic sketch, and her special effect – stamping over the blossoms in gold. I changed color palettes. Although her light aqua and gold color choice is lovely, I chose wisteria and green to match the decorative napkin that I’m using for a background. The other thing I didn’t do is write the sentiment on the image as she had done; I added the sentiment as a panel inside the card. Where she had a gorgeous embellishment, I placed a bow with a beautiful vintage style button that picks up the gold and the green in my background. I cut the hasp off the button and used a homemade glue dot to hold it in place.

That is such a delightful card - love wisteria, but that has nothing to do with my sentiment. The antique button just finishes the card perfectly. - Just to make you envious - my white wisteria is just coming into bloom now!!
