I made this card for daily challenge #WT190 in which we were asked to use any technique that would give a crackle finish to our card. I used the “cracked glass” technique to get the crackle finish.
This was the first time I had ever tried “crackling glass” and it took me several attempts before I was satisfied with the result.
I stamped the image on white card stock and then sponged it liberally with bronze ink, dusted it with clear embossing powder, and heat cured it. Then I stamped embossing ink over the previous embossing, dusted it again, and heat cured it again. After that, I heated the image until I could see the embossing powder soften and puff, and then I dusted it and heat treated it again. I repeated this twice. After freezing the paper for about a half hour, I creased and “crackled” it. I brushed the Versafine sepia ink pad over it, and wiped away the excess. To finish the image, I tore the edges and brushed them with bronze ink.
I used color challenge CC186 and Sketch Challenge SC196 to complete the card. I embellished with a wired metallic rust colored ribbon and some rust colored brads.
