This is for the Rock Paper Scissors challenge LSC189 (what a clever challenge!)
For ROCK:
I used embossing powder kind of like sand which comes from rocks LOL & the colour of rocks (on the mourning Doves, LOL.) If those don't count then I have a hint of rocks on the garden path, heeheehee
For PAPER:
I used Lots of paper lol. And two unusual kinds of gesso paper: patterned paper painted with gesso (as the background paper) & cardstock painted with gesso (to make the doves)
For SCISSORS:
no punches, nesties, cuttlebug just regular scissors to cut the clouds & doves.
Details on makin' this thinger:
I just LOVE this dove from the Flourished Dove set (new Little Paper Shop release.) I used the flourish to make the fence (and added some embroidery to finish it off.)
I used another new LPS set to make the garden too: Topiary. It's done in Embossed Silhouette stamping. (Stamp in black craft ink with clear embossing powder & colour in with black marker or ink. Optional: highlight with white ink (Craft or a CTMH marker)
The Doves are kind of complex but I loved the effect so it was worth the work.
There's a simple version:
stamp the doves on cardstock in gray
shade with darker gray pencil crayon
highlight with white pencil crayon
To make these particular doves, I did this schtuff:
1) Stamped them on cardstock (that I had brushed white gesso onto) in Going Grey ink. (The ink stays wet on the gesso, so it can be manipulated.)
2) Added shadows with a grey watercolour pencil crayon.
3) Daubed the shadows with a waterbrush (or wet paint brush.) A bit finicky, but I think it looks okay.
4) Added a little black dot for an eye (I used a black Stampin' write marker)
PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!!(sorry to stress, but it's important or you'll be mad at me, lol): The key to the whole gesso cardstock thing is that it'll still be wet now... (the gesso resists the marker) ...so it'd smudge without the next step:
5) Sprinkle embossing powder on. (I like to work with one dove at a time.
I'm working on a template for the cloud trifold card & a tutorial on the rest of the card too...
Thanks so much for looking!
:O)
