My BIL lives on a boat up near Seattle, so I thought that this would be a great card for him. I cased the idea of using Old World Map with Set Sail from Parisotremba, but the layout is my own. I scorched the edges of the mat with my heat gun (do not try this unless you have LONG tweezers to hold the paper with--OUCH!!)

I love this card. My father-in -law's b-day was today and my Dad's birthday is on Thursday. I used your idea for their cards. Instead of scorching the edges of the mat, I used creamy caramel ink and sponged on some color. I didn't trust myself with the heat gun! For the verse inside the card I found a father's poem and then I typed it on the computer, Printed it on white paper and glued it inside. It fit so appropriately with this card. I'll share it:
A Father is…
A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there,
But always a guiding light whose love shows us the way.
The warm light of your love shines in our memory and in our heart reminding us of your guidance, your care, and most of all, your love.
