i've moved from that really neat cabinet in the dining room to the garage!!! i got tired of the dining room table being a "mess" all the time, so i moved a bookcase out to the garage, bought 2 six foot tables & have created a "stamping studio" for myself!!

Do I spot some colour-coded, home-made labels on your stamps? :D
May I get a close-up or can you tell me what you used to code them, which categories you subdivided them into? I'm starting to piece together ideas on how I want to keep my stamp sets organized.

yes, i use file folder labels & print them out on the computer. (they're not color coded, but i wish i had done that...oh well!!) each label has the stampset name, # of stamps in the set, the price, my initials. i also stamp each block with my name (had a personalized stamp made with my name real tiny so i can stamp ALL the blocks--really helps when others are using them). the retired sets get a little colored dot on the label. i keep the retireds with the others because even though i can't demo them, i still use them for my personal use. i used to have them separate, but found i wasn't ever using them. i have even started coding the labels with a little heart for the ones that i've received free or as a hostess set or 1/2 a heart for the 1/2 price sets!! the top shelf has the letters, words, background stamps & shape sets. the next shelf down is miscellaneous, the next floral, the next holiday & non-stampin up. they're by box size order on the shelf (too much trouble to put them alphabetically!) & i find that i usually put them back in the same spot so i can go right to the one i want!!! (i'm not anal, just organized!!!!!!!!!) i forgot to tell you that i stapled a sheet of clear vinyl table cloth material with a slit up the middle to the bookshelf to keep everything clean & dustfree. the bottom shelves have accessories in baskets & binders with ideas, stamp inventory, swaps, etc. i took some close up pictures....i'll upload them now! thanks for asking!!

Wow, I can't believe their is another super organized person out there like me!! I have my stamps sorted and labeled exactly like your's -- but a couple steps more. I put page# & catalog & description of each stamp on my labels (used larger label) then went back & put red circle labels on those that retired (as I made mistake of using one once in swap) & green circle label if they were free!! But we both sorted ours by the same category -- & no alpha sort for me either--by size of container!! You wouldn't think I would have had room to get all of that on my labels, but I did!! I haven't seen a better way to store mine yet, with the space I have -- but I keep looking as I have learned so much from this sight already!! TYFS -- you go girl!
