I made these cards for Inspiration Challenge IC146. For today’s challenge we were referred to Mondo Dishes by Rosanna, Inc., a line of dishware and accessories designed by Rosanna Bowles. What a wonderful choice for inspiration! I found several collections I would love to have in my home, never mind my card collection, and I chose several to make cards with today. These cards are inspired by the “Beach Cottage” collection. I love the blue and white combination and use it a lot in my card-making.
For these cards, I took my cue from one of the dinner plates that featured white on blue and blue on white on a plate that has a curved and shaped edge. The design on the plate mimics a swatch of fabric with a message written along one design border, a perfect place to put my own greeting.
Ironically, SU has a stamp that is the exact shape of the edge of the plate, but I don’t have that particular stamp. The plates are each half blue and half white. I cut two 3-3/4 inch squares of paper, one blue, one white, and adhered them together, one on top of the other, with removable adhesive tape so they wouldn't slip when I was cutting them. I traced the edge of one of my acrylic blocks for the edge of the plate and cut through both pieces of card stock, cutting two plates, one blue and one white. I cut a wavy diagonal through both plates so that I could exactly match up each half, leaving me with two plates. Then I printed the floral design elements as well as my greeting right onto both “sides of each “plate”. I also printed a rose and rose leaves in blue on white card stock that I cut out and applied over the white floral sprig on one of the blue sides.
I had a piece of paper with a blue and white plaid design that I thought would make an excellent “place mat” or “table runner” and I used a Fiskars punch to make a lace edge. This made the perfect backdrop for my plates.
I utilized scraps of paper and extra images I had printed and cut to make a third card with the same basic theme.
