This month's Dirty Girl challenge was to create a card with NO layers, NO pink (what?!), and WITH masking! Phew...talk about a challenge! I had fun with it though, and am really happy with the end result.
I wanted to make a blue jay rather than a cardinal. So, besides the obvious color blue, I added the trademark white markings on the wings of my bird with a white gel pen.
I used a scoring blade to make a rectangle in the center of the card. The I used a Cuttlebug embossing border folder to get the raised polka dots framing the center. Next, I masked off the edges and lightly sponged Soft Sky ink around the inside edges of the rectangle. I colored the image with SU ink pads and a blender pen. The final touch is a wrap of ribbons with a Filigree flower and white Glitter Dot in the center.
***EDIT: Hey everyone, the Cuttlebug border was NOT made with the Swiss Dots CB Folder!!! It's a BORDER folder called Just My Type (there are actually 4 borders in that package, one being the dots). I promise, I don't know any magic tricks for not embossing the middle with a regular folder!
