This is my submission for WT181, and will be going in the mail today to Vicky Gould's Son, who had a terrible bike accident and has had four surgeries since Aug. 15, and will be out of work for a year. Having gone through a life threatening accident myself in which I broke my back, lost my spleen and untold other damage, my heart bleeds for him. But it never ceases to amaze me how good our Lord is... He answers our prayers and can restore us to health even when the Drs. may give up! It is my prayer for Ken that he will be restored to complete health and that God will bring good out of this experience!
Today's Way to use it challenge was to use our colored pencils and that was no problem for me, because Prisma pencils and gamsol is my favorite watercolor technique! I stamped the Northwoods image in Stazon Timber Brown and because it is a heavily lined image, I colored over the lines with my Prisma pencils, leaving the rest white, and just blended the colors together. After the image was colored I used my red and orange pencils to dot in a light coloring of leaves on the distant trees to replicate the time of year we are in. I just love when the leaves just start to turn... they look so beautiful against the deeper greens of the other trees. Not knowing Ken, I thought this outdoorsy picture might be a restful scene and a comfort to him to know lots of us on SCS are keeping him in our prayers!
I used the paper from a Making Memories Scrap Pack and ran the green layer through the CB with a Fiskars fern/feather texture plate. Added a few brads but kept it simple... guys don't like ribbon, etc.
Thanks so much for looking!

Oh, Grace, I am deeply touched. I hope you will share your testimony with Ken - he's kinda down right now as he just had his 5th surgery in less than two weeks and has to stay in the hospital longer. God bless you!

Grace this is wonderful. I am so in awe of your coloring. I am so NOT good at this technique. The water looks real. It is harder to do this than it looks. Great job. Ken will love it. Very nice coloring.
