SBVC39..... Folded Photo Mat.. 8.22.08

Hello Everyone!
Here is an example of this week's variety challenge which I hope you will enjoy..
SBVC39 Folded Photo Mat Example

This challenge is a simple three-dimensional embellishment technique using an eyelet; charm; string; and double sided printed paper.

1. Trim the upper right corner of the photo. Mat the photo on double sided printed paper.

2. Fold the corner of the double sided printed paper to the front gently, tring to roll the corner rather than crease it.

3. Set an eyelet in the corner to hold it in place.

4. Tie a charm to a piece of string, twine, or wire. Thread the string throught the eyelet's hole and tape it on the back of the mat so the charm is allowed to hang freely on the front of the photo.

(Technique taken from "Teach Yourself Visually Scrapbooking" by R.Ludens & J. Schmidt, 2006)

Whew so sorry this challenge took a little longer to post. I had to drop family off at airport this morning and stop by Dunkin Doughnut...okay didn't HAVE to stop at the doughnut shop but couldn't pass it by without checking out the strawberry sprinkle delight! :)

slprunning 08-22-2008 11:03 AM

Oh, Pattie..this looks like such a fun technique. After I get some photos printed I will def. try this one. Thanks!

Salster 08-22-2008 11:41 AM

Neat idea Pattie!!!

Luv2Smile 08-22-2008 12:02 PM

Thanks Erika & Sally :)

I know it's a very simple one but think VSN is this weekend & thought ladies who are going to be hanging out making card challenges might need to reserve their energy for the fun.

Wellll...that was on the other side of town so it would have been a bit too obvious!

Luv2Smile 08-26-2008 12:52 PM

Hmmm....is everyone still recovering from the VSN? :)

elliesmom 08-26-2008 05:32 PM

I used your idea as the inspiration for the card that I was struggling with, Pattie. Does that count?!

thank you for hosting Pattie. Haven't had much scrappy time, but am going to try this for sure! Such a great idea! I like the way the fold fills up "white" space on a picture.

WOWzers Chica this is amazing! Love everything you did and especially how you created a 'new' twist on the corner.

It is definetly a busy time for everyone..me included. I have been mia for many challenges in the weeks past. Getting together with NCarolina gals for planning upcoming swap. Thank you for allowing me to post a challenge.

I agree Pattie - busy time, seems like we try to "pack" in lots of stuff at the end of our summers.

i really liked this challenge! I love this technique but never remember to use it. Thank you for the motivation! It's a simple thing that adds a lot to a card or page. I tweaked the idea just a little bit for my page. Thanks for guest hosting and for the beautiful example page.
