I haven't been here to chat for a while -- I hope you all are well! I hate it when life gets in the way of stamping and chatting with friends!
I have a few ideas in mind for a project -- let's hope I can get it done!
If you wait till Saturday, you can make it for previews!
By the way, girlies, get your stamping desks cleared..and your ink pads ready. you're all going to throw your hat in for the Guest Designer contest this month RIGHT??
Without prying for your current project ideas… I’m going to ask any experienced “alterers” to respond. What were your favorite altered project types to do when you first began? This could help inspire some of us who aren’t so experienced and stuck inside an 5 ½ x 4 ¼ box!

My favorite altered project, and the first I ever tried, was a shadowbox frame. Oh, and I've been meaning to mention that
I spied target mailboxes in the $1 spot last weekend!!!

I figure the only chance of winning I have is everyone's internet goes wonky all week and no one but me can upload. But you never know, it could happen, so I'll give it a go.

Secret confession. I entered that challenge every single month, for months and monthss.... and loved every minute of it. I learned a ton trying new things month after month, and made a ton of friends! And you know what, I never won it, not once! But, it was always a blast! And the anticipation each month, was killer! I still don't know how I got so lucky to land a spot on this team... I still consider myself HUGELY blessed, and I am always humbled by teammates fantabulous creations that take my breath away.
She could just make it for KJ to save herself time!
bwah, haha, I almost spit my soda out. I haven't noticed if KJ goes for any particular style, I think just about everything that's been made she's puts dibs on. So lack of fleur-de-lis shouldn't be a problem.
Smoochies and hugs to KJ, don't be playing with any pins and dolls with my face on it.
I finally watched the video. It was very informative. Joanne you are too cute and talented. I think when you did the third layer on the letters that's when I saidto myself "ooooh, no wonder it looks so good, there's so much more too it!".
Can you come up with a reason why my nails don't look nice?
What was the product you used for the glue and coating?

I actually like boxes. I figure there's always a use for them.
Of course my all time favorite alteration was covering my hideous old lady sun glasses in buttons.

Me too!! I won the very last month which was the month before you and Kim called me!

Oddly, I go a bit vintage when I do altered. I use creams and distress and tinted edges. Not all the time of course, but this time I will. I found a little wooden frame at a thrift store and I'm going to fit a little PI in there with muted colors. The frame has some dents and dings and it should add to the overall distressed feel...if I succeed. If I don't succeed it'll look like something the garbage man drug across town. I love Jo's magnet idea. I wouldn't have thought of that. I have some business card magnets that could use a good altering.

It's funny, I forget that people that I think are hugely talented (the entire design team) had to start somewhere.
We also need to remember to be easy on ourselves, we're our worst critics. I'm still trying to learn that lesson.
I can't wait to try this challenge. I love altered projects and if I can use it in my house even better. I am just loving all my new stamp sets and am offically addicted!!! Pretty hard not to be with all of the amazing work that all of you do!

I'm all about layers, my sister likes to tease me. But whenever I think I've had enough, i have the urge to add just one more. LOL
The product I used is the Studio line from Claudine Helmuth its a Ranger product. Its a gel based product, that is both glue and sealer. Super fast drying, and I like that its a gel. Personally, I find Mod Podge to be both a) smelly and b) runny.

Getting ready to go to a LSS closing... gonna pick me up some of that! (If I can find it )
Congrats Chris...I hear that will come in handy with the release coming up!
Beautiful piece Joanne. Is there some sort of conspiracy going on that everyone must buy bling bet??? All I need is another alphabet set...but I've realized I MUST have this set!
OK, now to plan what I'll make...hmmmmm.
Yes!! You HAVE to have this set! At first I didn't think I would like it, but I finally broke down and bought it during Kim's end of year sale. I used it a few weeks ago and it's just AWESOME!! There's so many things you can do with it. After using it once, I know this set's going to get used pretty darn often. Oh, that reminds me, I need to buy the numbers too...
Great project idea, Joanne. I need to watch your video as soon as I have a free minute here at work. I hope I can play this weekend! My scraproom is feeling sadly neglected and in need of a good cleaning.
My jetmax cubes are almost all built, the clear stamps have been organized into binders and i'm starting to move things back into my creative space- but man the rest of my house is like a cyclone has hit LOL! hoping another week will get me back up & stamping (crossing fingers!) -missing you guys!!

i'm a bit of a newbie & love to alter dollar store picture frames & clipboards, or cheap notebooks! my Target just got those mailboxes too- so cute!
there's also amazing tutorials here on spltcoast for things like post-it note holders & gift card holders- i LOVE the step by step help!
oh & i JUST found 3 of those travel mugs on clearance locally (like the one that KJ made incredibly fabulous during the SYTYCS finals!)
anyway- there's a few ideas! can't wait to see what you do!
Hey all!! Chris - congrats!! Loved all the cards in the gallery. Sadly my card for the challenge is still on my desk - unfinished. Hopefully I can get my act together for this week!!

Straight from my gallery to your lips...
May I present a card I made in 2004... and I liked it... *shudder*
great things to buy to alter go on clearance sale after the holidays. During the holidays too, cute cute things can always be found.
I like buying frames at garage sales, the $1 store, anywhere there is a deal! I also look at themed items when they're in the store and think about which stamps set I have that would match the "theme".
My VIP kit came today and all I can say OH WOW!!!!! I cannot believe how great it is. I had another project I needed to do tonight so I didn't get to use it yet. I hope I have time to play with it tomorrow.
If you didn't order it yet, don't let it pass you by when the release goes on sale.

New image up of the MFT blog for the new line!!!!! I love it and can't wait to see all the new designs!
I'm so glad you put that little reminder up. That is really cute. Pretty soon I'm gonna need to rent a studio to house my supplies.
Thank goodness these suckers aren't on wood.
