Good morning everyone! It's Sabrina here with your WTUI challenge this week.
The first lighthouse in the American colonies was lit on this day in 1716 in Boston Harbor. There are now over a thousand lighthouses in America. The lighthouse now standing on the site of the first one itself dates back to 1783, in itself no spring chicken! It's the only lighthouse still staffed by the US Coast Guard - although it's automated like all the rest, a keeper acts as tour guide.
When I was growing up I lived within earshot of the sea, and if I climbed up to the top of a pine tree in the garden, I could see the lights of three lighthouses twinkling up and down the coast, and on foggy days we could hear the boom of the foghorns.
Let's see your lighthouses today! I have at least 5 different lighthouse stamps (and a tiny die). I did make an effort to use a lovely RAK image Jacqueline sent me, but unfortunately I made a mess of the colouring and had to go back to my own collection of stamps. Sorry, Jacqueline!
When you've created your lighthouse themed card inspired by this challenge, upload it with the keyword WT653, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card .
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how: 1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
My thanks to Lisa, Cathy and Carla for some great samples to inspire you all.
Great challenge, Sabina. I grew up on a Great Lake and on a misty summer's night, I loved the moan of the foghorn. Many lighthouses today are places to visit, outdated by all the electronic navigation ships and boats have now. Thanks

Thanks Sabrina, this was a fun challenge. Here's my card.
