Thumbs up WT56 - Monogram Mania

This week's challenge is inspired by the current SU promotion on the new monogram alphabet. This week your challenge is to use a monogram on your cards or scrapbooking projects. It can use the monogram alphabet, the Headline or Letterpress alphabet or you can even go faux. Also, I'd love some input on whether you use the first or last initial of yourself or the person you are making the card for....I am always in a quandry about what to do.

Here are some examples...

Monogram R

Hoppy Bday
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...57573&cat=5983

Faux Baby
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...aux%20monogram

Love U Blocked Collage
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...00&ppuser=9338

Please remember to put WT56 in your keywords section (don't leave any spaces or the link won't work!!!!) and post a link back here.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter and wonderful long weekend.

Happy stamping, Julia

PS Thanks so much to everyone who sent me birthday cards last week...I am so enjoying them. We still have the flu here and I am trying to get around to private messaging each of you.

It's up. Wish I had a monogram. This might be difficult. Well over to the stalkers I go to let them know Julia's awake!

Did you check out the last two links? They are ideas for going faux.

Thanks Julia!! I always wonder about the monogram thing, too. Most people say last name. I think that is the more formal and first name would be more fun and casual!!
Great challenge!! That's what Mr Brown is bringing me too!! (coming today)

What fun -- of course I don't have the monograms but I do have tons of alphabet sets and a printer to go faux! Thanks -- something new to try!

WT56 Monograms

Here are two faux monograms: the "V" was cut out of rubber by a friend; the "j" is computer generated. Now, off to make a new one for this challenge! Thanks for getting me moving on the monograms again!

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=36202

Both are used for first names.

Hmmmm.... the only big one I have is '&'. Wonder what I could do with that? Although I did get letterpress & headline from my SAB sales -- haven't mounted them yet! I'm working on mounting a few other sets I got last week. And today I have a huge order coming for a customer who is paying me to mount them all! Of course, UPS doesn't get here till afternoon...

You won't believe this...I went for broke...literally and got ALL the monogram stamps, and they just came today But, I've actually made two recently...here they are:

Basic Gray B is for Birthday:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=61740

M for Mother's Day:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=61740

I love these stamps more for the other options rather than the true monogram...like T for Thanks, J for Joy, K for Kiss...I think they're more versatile that way

Hope to be able to get to do one today, but hectic, my son just got home from Spring Break...a ton of laundry

Good Morning Ladies!! Fun Challenge Julia! I don't have any of the big monogram stamps yet but I have some letters. I'll have to see what I can come up with.
As for your question: You should use the first init. of the First name of a woman... The first init. of the Last name for a man... For children, first name. I hope this helps...

"Where were they in Walmart...I would spring for the .98 Monograms!"

...In my Walmart they were on one of the end caps in the fabric dept...they have sticky dots on the back to hang them on the wall...for those that can"t be used either side, I have just been peeling the dots off and then filling in the missing ink with a cotton ball after it is stamped...they had some shapes too, a smiley, cross, star, heart...

Here's mine. I'll confess, I didn't stamp it this morning. It was one of the cards we did at March's Technique Class. I was trying to get my customers excited about the upcoming special. Plus it was on St. Patrick's day, so of course it had to be green.

Great challenge. I haven't purchased any of the monogram alphabet but I tried my hand at faux after seeing some of the cute ideas out there.
These are two cards from my gallery.

Faux A for Ashley's 16th Birthday

Faux P for Patricia on St Patrick's Day
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=28430

Can't wait to get home this evening and make another. TFL!

Just got off the phone with a friend, and we are talking about making the leap for our mono's..... so this is so timely! In the meantime, I will be using my Letterpress Alpha.

I am making a card tin filled with cards for my MIL for her 5/4 bd, so this perfect timing there also. Great job being so in tune with me, Julia! LOL!

It occurs to me that a monogram doesn't have to big, does it? I suppose it could be tiny and sweet. Couldn't you just use any letter from an alphabet set, or even just one letter from any sentiment stamp? Just thinking aloud here....

I have just the "G" for DD (Grace), but I've had an idea to use it with the graceful words "grace" and the hostess "G is for" and some other things that go with her name...maybe do a framed thing...so this will get me off my hiney and started!! Thanks for the challenge Julia! And happy be-lated birthday!

I used a smaller Little Davis foam stamp for my monogram card. I want to try doing a large one later on today when I get back from helping my MIL move. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=36427 (still pending as of 9:05 Pacific time)

Good morning If you don't have the monograms, go to home page. Click on Stampin 101. On the first page click on monograms on computers. You can then make them on your computer. This is what I do. You can make any size you want. Good luck. Talk to you later. Janet
