WT112 - Coasting Along

Thursday again already and time for another Ways to Use it Challenge! Thanks for joining me here today...hope you all have time to play along! If you don't have time today...please feel free to play all week as there are no time limits!

This week my challenge for you is to find ways to use Coasters in your designs. You can use coasters in a card or any other project you wish that incorporates them! Coasters can be purchased on-line, at your local scrapbooking store, sometimes at Michael's...maybe even your dollar store! I hope you can find them as they are loads of fun!

Please remember to put WT112 in your keywords section and post a link back on this thread so that we can all see your work! If you have an example in your gallery you wish to share, that is fine but please limit it to one and make sure you make another. This is a challenge to make something new after all! :)

Below are a few examples to get you going! The gallery is FULL of great ideas...I only had time to pick a few. If you have the time, click on this COASTER LINK ...it will show you all the samples in the gallery using coasters!

My Embossed Coaster Card - Regal Merci

Marinelvr - Coaster Frames

lesarapp - 80th Birthday Wish

funone - Coaster Boxes

mkirkwood2002 - Coaster Note Block Photo Box with Pen

Thanks for playing along! Have a great day!

mom22kids 05-10-2007 05:06 AM

I just use chipboard and cut in square and use corner rounder to round the edges when I run out. just a thought for those that want to play that might not have them but have chipboard sheets.

robynstamps 05-10-2007 05:06 AM

I might have to give it a try. I have a stack of coasters that I have not used yet.

Fun challenge, but I don't have any either and was thinking I could do this. What dimensions are they? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

debils 05-10-2007 05:15 AM

I don't have any coasters but if faux is fine, I will make some. Could someone measure their coasters and post the dimensions please?

reneejul1 05-10-2007 05:15 AM

I made this the other day, but never uploaded it. Here is my bitty book:

In total, I used 9 coasters to put this little book together. My kids ABSOLUTELY love them!

hskelly 05-10-2007 05:16 AM

I just got some from the $1 bin at Micheals. They have pictures on them but I thought I could cover them with DP. I've never used coasters before so thanks for the challenge, Julia. Will have to do this after work.

TERRORE3 05-10-2007 05:16 AM

coaster calendars

Here's one I just uploaded the other day. It's a group of coasters that I had each one of my DD's classmates draw on one side and write a teacher appreciation note . Then on the other side I decorated it with DP and put on both a 2007 and 2008 calendars. Also I scaned in the class picture made it smaller and added it. Lastly I added in the teacher survival kit list. TFL

Thanks Julie!! Off to make faux coasters!

Wendybell 05-10-2007 05:17 AM

Hey, Julia!! I have some really strange coasters. I got some oval ones from a local restaurant. Can I use those? Or should I cut them to be square (they will be small if I do that).

raduse 05-10-2007 05:18 AM

Great challenge Julia. I so need to use some of mine. Now to find some stamp time.

Stampin'4Fun 05-10-2007 05:19 AM

Don't have any either, but I might eat at Chili's for lunch, tee hee hee. Great excuse to go there, huh? "But honey, I have to have some coasters!"

lacyquilter 05-10-2007 05:19 AM

Oh, fun one, Julia. What a great bunch of samples! I bought a bunch of coasters months ago from Silvia and have only used them to make 2 boxes + an unfinished one. Love the ideas. Thanks, Julia.

How fun. By all means use them as they are. Yours will be unique.

ambouth 05-10-2007 05:21 AM

GAH!! You mean I have to go SHOPPING?!? ;)

I've seen so many cute things done with coasters lately, I've actually got tropicalichick (Amanda) mailing me some AS WE SPEAK!! However, I don't think they'll get here in time, hence my need to SHOP :D Thanks, Julia!

Faereygirl 05-10-2007 05:22 AM

Hmmm mine are still missing from the move...I'll look around for them tonight!

etsdas 05-10-2007 05:29 AM

I don't have a single coaster and no store close - but I have chipboard I planned to use in the cuttlebug then was not brave enough. I see Julia embossed the coaster. I need to figure out if two B plates are used - seems like it would be too thick.

Twinshappy 05-10-2007 05:32 AM

I have a stack sitting here from Silvia that I bought and have not used yet. I guess this is perfect.... Except I have no idea what I will do with them yet.... Off to think.... Thanks Julia!

Absolutley! if they are coasters...no matter what shape...use them! Can't wait to see! I bought some round ones at Michael's a couple months ago...they would work great too!

wendykins 05-10-2007 05:42 AM

tx stamper 05-10-2007 05:44 AM

Clownmom 05-10-2007 05:44 AM
