Default Saturday - 09/28/13 - 2PM EST - TechTalk07 - Baby Wipe Stamping

Title: Baby Wipe Stamping
Hostess: wendella247
Keyword: TechVSBN07
Day/Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013
Time: 2pm EST

Hope you’re having fun with the VSBN challenges so far today! My challenge uses a fun and easy technique I learned at a workshop several years ago.

What you’ll need:

• Baby wipe or similar type wipe (I tried a generic baby wipe & Clorox disinfectant wipe--both worked)
• 3 coordinated re-inker inks
• Bold-style stamp image (single-outline images aren’t as effective for this technique, although one of my images was a plaid style which turned out OK).

Basically, all you do is add drops of re-inker inks to a folded baby wipe, then use it as a "stamp pad.” I checked in the tutorials here on SCS and found instructions by Beate Johns which are very similar to the ones I used, so here’s THE LINK.

For my sample challenge page,I stamped some multi-colored flower & plaid images which I used to create background strips on my page. (Use your stamped images in any way you want, they don’t have to be strips like mine.) I tried 2 different wipes, a store-brand baby wipe and a Clorox disinfecting wipe. They both worked pretty well; the Clorox wipe has a little texture. I’m guessing that whatever kind of wipes you have at home will probably be fine, so give it a go!

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. To be considered for VSBN Recognition, ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 11:00 PM EST on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

2. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted this challenge in your Upload Description.

3. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD TechVSBN07 when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.

It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen by the host and all visitors.

Wink Very Cool!

....well .... there are no baby wipes at my house (LOL!) but I do have the Chlorox ones I think somewhere so I'm definitely going to have to pull some picts and get busy

No babies at mine either, but I do keep them around for cleaning up inky hands and such! I'm glad you're going to try and play, Lela.

The photo of my sample page turned out awful and I tried to upload a better version, but so far, the same one is there. Oh well!

I was thinking earlier when I tried to do the first challenge that I needed baby wipes to clean the brayer but I didn't have any that were wet anymore. I think I've got Clorox wipes but I decided to play in the kitchen to try and make Alfredo Sauce to put over noodles for lunch...needless to say that didn't work out either ... Almost tastes like Alfredo Sauce but definitely doesn't have the consistency needed so I guess I'll be drinking it

I need a container of hand wipes so this challenge gives me the impetus to go get some! Busy the rest of today but hope to try it tomorrow.

The only reinker I own is for my black Memento pad.

I tried to load the wipe with ink from a pad and then from a marker. Not really working. At all. Guess I'll have to skip this one.

If you get the Clorox brand, which have the texture, you could try your texture challenge again using the wipe! I've got my texture challenge done! Just have to take a photo, write my supplies list, and post! It was really fun!

I purchased wipes and really want to do this challenge, but I realized I don't have very many re-inkers, either! None of my colors has matched my layouts yet, but I am determined to complete this challenge somehow.

I just tried this, and it was a failure! The image wouldn't stamp bold enough to show. Tried two different stamps. I feel like I wasted ink. I may use what the result was, just so the ink isn't wasted.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Sharon. I hope you can salvage something from it. I haven't used my re-inkers in some time, so I didn't give "wasting" a thought, but you're right--I'd see if you can find a way to use it--I'll bet you can!

Cheryl, I hope you find something too, but I'll understand if you don't!

Okay, I will have to save this technique and try it when I have more re-inkers. I looked through the photos I have to scrap and could not find any that matched the re-inker colors I have. Sigh. Thanks for sharing this, thought, because now I can come back to the VSBN page and find this technique at a later date!
