Nov09VSBNTop10 -- Sat, Nov 21, 2009 Noon -- Old Time Rock and Roll
Title: Old Time Rock & Roll (sung by Bob Seger, 1978 )
Hostess: Charlsanne (cla616)
Keyword: Nov09VSBNTop10
Day/Date: Saturday, November 21
Time: 12:00 PM (noon)
As soon as I heard the theme for the upcoming VSBN, the song Old Time Rock & Roll popped immediately into my head. This song, at least to my generation, is best known from the movie Risky Business.
So the challenge is for you to build a scrap page or double page spread using the Rock and Roll Technique, which can be found in the Resources Section, and also use a Risky Technique (i.e. something that has been around, but you have never tried, another Oldie but Goodie)
1. ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28.
2. You have 2 hours to complete the challenge (unless otherwise stated).
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, Nov09VSBNTop10 , when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen

that's why I had to do mine the old fashioned way, I wonder if you could "double stamp" maybe by matting? and adding a little textured stamped on the edges to give it the rock and roll effect??

probably could also do the Faux Dry Embossing in a similar way by stamping same image twice, but offset the 1 image ...

Just printing out my pictures now for this one...just a wee bit behind in life! So grateful I have the epson and it has ink! :-)
that's why I am glad we have a business one too, for backup and the ink is a lot cheaper just not as good as my old HP photosmart

That's the only way I could think of to do the rock and roll part. The gradient tool might have the same effect though too. I'm just not too good at making that one work yet.
I was thinking about doing a little brushwork on the edges to make it look kissed! Off to see if it will work and to make some tea-its a bit chilly in here!

Great Challenge! I am excited to be here....
I am in the process of turning all my 2009 "52 week" half sheet challenge pages into 12X12 LOs. The 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 pages have turned out to be to bulky and overwhelming in the loose rings that held them all together. I love the theme and it works so well with the pages that I am finishing up. SO, please bare with me this weekend....Many of the pictures that I will be using through out these challenges some of you have seen before but I have redone them into totally new LO's.
GREAT Challenge Charlsanne! I'm looking through the resource pages to get some ideas I'm unfortunately moving very S-L-O-W-L-Y today for some reason, LOL! Hopefully it will pick up

yes that umm "little" puppy is now ours. We have had her almost 4 weeks now
brought her home at about 31 pounds, she was 41 at the Vet on Thurs (just got her spay, and she is 4 months and a few days old now.
And totally the love of my life, and of course Chris and Maddy's too, but she's definitely my doggie

hey all! how's it going? I need to get the kids down for a nap, shower (really, I can't stand myself!), and run to the store for some caffeine. Tidy up the craft room a bit, THEN I can get to scrappin!
Hey Lela, I hear ya about the slow moving today, I am with it, but starting to crash, and so much to do, all I want to do is nap, but I know if I even thought about trying it, I would just lay there wishing I was doing the 100 things on my to-do list instead.

Have you always played the harp or are you just learning? You are the energizer bunny!
Sounds like a great challenge but I am off to work tonight. Have Monday and Tuesday off hope to get to the challenges then. Hope everyone has a fun time today!

I started to learn in Sept-dh and I drove up to Salt Lake City in August and on the way we saw Fort Cove and it just happened to be Fort Cove days and the Mormons were there giving tours and exhibitions of what it was like in pioneer days, and, of course, feeding the crowd. It was totally awesome-well on the stage a lady was playing a harp-and when she finished she invited anyone who wanted to come over and give it a try-I practically ran! She showed me how to play Twinkle, twinkle, little star and I was hooked-now the hard part-practicing and making the sounds turn into what might sound like music!!!

But the coffee must be kicking in because my page is done. ;) Just searching for the camera so I can upload.

that is so fantastic, what an awesome skill, are you hoping to play for events someday? i.e. weddings, or just totally personal?

can't wait to see your page,
my biggest problem is that little girl inside of me kicking me in the bladder, once I get up for that I just can't get back to sleep, I would love to though, but hunger won out too

Scrap room cleanup is on my to-do list too, just don't feel like it, but I have lots to get put away, figured I would do what was out first, then put away all the Open House stuff, which luckily have pretty well marked homes! (just got to get motivated) besides I miss chatting with you all too, so it's hard to tear away at times!

ok page done-here is the link Graffiti by fresshe at Splitcoaststampers
Anavon, I forget that it is 3 hours later on the east coast!
and as far as the harp goes-at the rate I am practicing, it will have to be totally personal for quite some time, although dh says it sounds soothing when I practice-that is a good thing, although I don't think he can recognize any of the songs I am playing!
Lela-fun college laundry!
