11/28 MicroVSBN Challenge !
Well, we're rather "impromptu" tonight but we have SO many SCRAPPY SISTERS that want to scrap together....now is the time to do some Scrappin' Challenges!!
So...come and play, scrap or stamp....chat or browse! It's all about getting our scrappy projects done.
So Let's SCRAP! I realize that it's "Black Friday" which means it's time for the Holiday Shopping Season to get crazy but it's also a GREAT time to Count Down to Christmas.
I thought for our SCRAP Challenge tonight we'd enjoy some challenges based on the Christmas song, "The 12 Days of Christmas". It would get us in the mood for holidays! Let the FUN begin...
"On the FIRST Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree. My challenge to you is to complete a page or a layout that includes a TREE or a BIRD. Great time to scrap some fun outdoor picts or Christmas picts.
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN1
"On the SECOND Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me two turtle doves, .... In this challenge you can choose to do one of the following ... (1) when I think of 2 TurtleDoves I think of them "side-by-side" so I challenge you to scrap 2 pictures "side-by-side" (see sketch) or (2) Scrap some pictures with kids, friends or family "side-by-side". (Sketch from pagemaps)
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN2
On the THIRD Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me three French Hens... 3 French Hens...what in the world? Not sure what you do with French Hens, I would struggle with what to do? So here's your challenge...I'm sure you have some picts you've struggled to Scrap, let's get those out and see if this challenge helps you get those scrapped. Include "3" of something....3 words in the title, 3 embellishments, 3 picts or 3 brads
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN3
"On the FOURTH Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me four calling birds.... My SIL has birds and when they get to "calling" it's noisy, LOL! For this challenge, let's see those "noisy" pages. The challenge is to have something or someone "making noise". Since we're on #4, include 4 of something.
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN4
On the FIFTH Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me FIVE golden rings... ooohhh yay, 5 golden rings! Our fifth and final challenge for tonight is to include someone in your pictures wearing rings. Also include gold (or yellow) somethings...brads, eyelets, letters...
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN5

Hey Kirsten! My Thanksgiving was lonely but fun. I ended up cooking for me and the kids at the last minute. My DD helped and she had fun. I didn't get to talk to DH at all:(. I was really missing my family.

my Thanksgiving was Relaxing.... dinner was quite an "effort"....pies didn't turn out so good, I forgot to take Turkey out of freezer before Wed and then couldn't find the roasting pan Thursday plus a few other "kitchen blunders" (THANK GOODNESS that's NOT my day job) ...BUT... as they say "All's well that ends well..."
I'm just SO Happy to be off work for few days!!!
How was it at your Sisters? Fun? Did ya'll shop today? When do you go back home?

Hey Anavon.... scrap some Christmas cards? You're making them? I'm hunting in the Gallery for an idea for mine....I like simple since I "mass produce" them. You?
OK, Momma of 5 Boys (&the rest of you Momma's) ..... I need an opinion. My 17yr old son wants to bring his GF here tonight. I'm fine with that, even happy so I cleaned up the LR for them. He tells me they're going to "sit in his room" and watch a movie....ummmm?? DH says, "ok, just leave door open for propriety sake" ...I say "No. How would her parents feel if they knew we were ok w/ this? Are we ok w/ this?" I'm uncomfortable with this idea.
Opinions, Ideas???

I'm glad you get some time off!!!
Thanksgiving was nice. Raif and I drove straight - no stops - so it was a pleasant ride. Dinner was good, the kids were a little nutty (there were a lot of pple here) but it was cool. I went shopping at 6am and got stocking stuffers, clothes... no scrapping stuff  I went to McMike's, but there was nothing there I 'needed.' I also found that the prices here are the same as at home on most things (especially electronics), so when you factor in the exchange, it made more sense to buy those gifts when I get back.
I'm leaving with the kids tomorrow - dh will head back to Ohio till Monday afternoon. I'm not looking forward to single parenting till then. I'm tiiiiired.

Since we didn't have any "real" consensus....I was going to add some challenges & everyone can just do what they're motivated to do

Ummm... ya, I'd have to say, first time over I'd be stuffing a cheese sandwich in that dvd player in his room tonight. They can be alone out in the open, right?

Well I know that I'd be quite uncomfortable in this situation. My mom was so not having that when I was 17. My sister even had to go on dates with me and she would let the guy know if he was too close. LOL!!!

I spent $2.32 on 3 sheets of "clearance" paper at Archivers today! I was SO proud of myself for just mostly browsing. I saw some paper that would go good with my Thanksgiving Picts & I'm using a microVSBN Challenge so I thought it would be fun to get it and get the page done now!
Be safe going home! Sorry to hear DH has to come back to OH for a few more days. I know when I'm gone "alot" DH gets tiiirred from "single parenting"

This is "NEW" to me..... he's only taken her out once (Denny's! ) and I know he's been to her house for a party/bonfire.
I just think it's wierd that you would invite a girl over and have her sit in your room?! My DS is wonderful but he doesn't THINK tactfully at all times?.
Sigh....oh no....I hear car doors....ok, GIRLS, I'm definitely hyper ventilating... LOL!!

LOL.... I'm still peeking through the galleries too.
And about the GF... Well, at my house they stay in the living room! Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but at least the stress is off me for the time they are enjoying the time watching the movie.

As a teacher of teenagers, I overhear a *lot* about what happens during harmless movies. I would definitely say NO for my daughters. The trend nowdays seems to be sleepovers. 5-10 friends, mixed genders spend the night at one house. "Nothing happens" because they are all "just friends". They sleep in the same bed.

I must be old fashioned too because that is definately going to be my rule once my kids get older.

Well, back in my day, when I was that age and dating my boyfriend had to sit in the LR with me. We had two LR's so, we had some privacy cause family was in the other one but no way was he coming into my bedroom. I think giving them privacy in the LR is enough for now.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but, that's just how it would have to be. Sorry kiddo!

He has been invited to some girls B-day parties & been told he could stay. That was an easy one for me "NO WAY!" One of the Mom's even called me and to talk to me about it. "Thank you, but NO!"

And about the GF... Well, at my house they stay in the living room! Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but at least the stress is off me for the time they are enjoying the time watching the movie. |
Well.... "old fashion" or Not Ladies.....they are sitting in the LR at my house! We have a FR & LR & they have the LR to "themselves" watching, "Fantastic Four". I can hear them chatting (I'm down the hall in scrap room) .
He didn't seem too upset so I think he just wasn't "thinking" but we are going to talk about this tomorrow. Not Going to happen.... sigh...oh the joys of motherhood....

I'm agree with the living room thing. I don't think I was every allowed to have a boy in my room longer than 10 min while I lived at my parents (including college years). I know DS will have the same rule. Keep as much temptation away as possible I say
I'll be back in about an hour to play

I thought for our SCRAP Challenge tonight we'd enjoy some challenges based on the Christmas song, "The 12 Days of Christmas". It would get us in the mood for holidays! Let the FUN begin...
"On the FIRST Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree. My challenge to you is to complete a page or a layout that includes a TREE or a BIRD. Great time to scrap some fun outdoor picts or Christmas picts.
Lets see what you come up with! Upload your challenge to MCRVSBN1 |
Let's SCRAP
