I am Stalking & making these!
Oohey-Gooey Sticky Buns
(Bread Machine Recipe)
Ingredients
* 1 1/4 cups milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 3 tablespoons butter
* 3 cups all-purpose flour
* 3 tablespoons sugar
* 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
* 2 teaspoons instant yeast
* 3/4 cup brown sugar
* 1 tablespoon cinnamon
* 6 tablespoons butter
* 1/3 cup butter
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 cup light corn syrup
* 1 cup pecans, chopped
1. Place the flour, white sugar, salt, yeast, milk, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of butter into your bread machine as directed in your user's manual. Program it for the "Dough" cycle.
2. While the dough is mixing, prepare the filling by mixing the 3/4 cup brown sugar and cinnamon together. Let the 6 tablespoons of butter come to room temperature.
3. Grease the bottom and sides of a 13"x9" baking pan.
4. When the dough cycle is nearly finished, make the caramel topping by combining the 1/3 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, and corn syrup in a small pan over moderate heat. Heat and stir just until the syrup is dissolved, then pour it into the baking pan and spread it out. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the caramel.
5. When the dough cycle ends, remove the dough and place on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to make a 12" by 15" rectangle.
6. Spread the softened butter across the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the butter.
7. Roll up the dough like a jelly roll, lengthwise. Pinch the seam closed.
8. Cut the dough into 1 1/2" sections and place them in the baking pan, close together, with the spiral cut down.
9. Cover the buns tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
10. In the morning, take the pan out of the refrigreator while you preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
11. After the dough has been out of the refrigerator about 20-30 minutes, bake at 350 degrees for about 30-35 minutes, or until buns are nicely browned on top.
12. Remove from the oven, then place a wire rack on top the pan. Place another baking sheet or pan over that. While firmly holding these three together, flip the buns over, being careful not to let the hot caramel drip on you.
13. Let the buns cool 20-30 minutes before serving.
NOTE: If you prefer to bake them right away, let the buns rise at room temperature, lightly covered with plastic wrap, about 45 minutes or until they are puffy and the tops are about as high as the pan itself.

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW! We nearly have a whiteout outside as I type. There's at least 4 inches on the ground and the heaviest part of the storm is yet to come! My hairdresser called and told me not to come and I've stocked up yesterday on flour, sugar, eggs and butter so DGS and I can be creative today once I clear off counters and tables and we can start baking cookies!
My DH is a "cookie monster" so he will appreciate it AND while at the store I must have bought at least 10 packs of cookies which I am wrapping for a gift for him. Should keep him happy for quite a while! LOL!
I've got a bread machine but haven't used it in years. I'll have to save this recipe and try it out.
Remember, if you hear nothing from me at 8 tonight...I probably don't have electric!

how many does this make???
This actual recipe is for the bread machine so it makes a dozen. When I make them for my whole family. I mix them up by hand and I double the batch... that way I get about 25-30 depending on size.

Terry my parents have at least a foot with expectations of 25" before it's over, they are about 60 miles due west from DC (in VA), and my grandparents in Beckley, WV have 17" so far

ok good to know, may have to pick up some yeast and make these for whenever I know hubby will be home since they need to rest overnight!
Does yeast go bad, like if I were to pick up a larger container at Sams Club or am I better off just getting a small one or the packets?

either works.... we do a lot of baking so I buy mine in larger containers. But if you do that, a lot of people will tell you to store it in the freezer to get it to last longer. I use mine to fast so I just leave mine in the cupboard. If you don't bake real often... I recommend packets.
as a side note.... you can bake those the day you make them, just let them rise 30-45 minutes before you bake them.
Someone bring me some of those sticky buns...dh is going to afb tomorrow for the big shopping...we're running low on everything! I have a cookie exchange tomorrow so later tonight I'll do some baking. Now...off to get my page ready...today's been the only day I've been home long enough to do one...ummm, better late than never ;-) See you all at noon with our first Hostess...Kerry!
Terry...hope you get to stay on but if not don't worry...have fun in the snow. My mom (from NJ) is here and glad to be skipping the white stuff. My bro though is not so lucky...he had about 2 inches earlier but like all of you snow bunnies it won't be done for a while :-)
The snow is actually pretty exciting..at least I think so. This is the first snowfall that DGS will be able to go out and play in as he was only about 1-1/2 yrs old for the last big one that we had in 2005.
I grew up outside of DC, in Alexandria. I am sure that there was a shopping frenzy yesterday when they were calling the storm. In Wisconsin, we had that same storm. We got some snow, but about 15 west of us, got over 16 inches!!! We had no school becuase of the freezing rain and drifting.

What a bummer it happened during Christmas Break...nothing like hearing 'School's Closed due to Weather'!! :-) I grew up in Philly and we'd live by the radio (back in the day) to listen for school closings...favorite time!

Yes..they had it on the news. The merchants hope to have all cleared away by tomorrow since they say this is the biggest weekend for shopping and most will not have much traffic today.
Yum! I'm just gonna be an observer today, but it sure would be nice to munch on a few of these--got any extras you could send my way in the next hour or so, Anavon (I only wish.....)

Hi all!!! Those sticky buns look so good. I am hoping to accomplish a couple pages today. I spent yesterday from about 5-8P and a few more hours today finding the floor and my desk in my room so I'd be ready.

Yep I grew up in Arlington, born in Alexandria hospital, then we moved out to Reston for Highschool, then my parents built out in Warrenton about 9 years ago.
Now hubby and I are in Northern IL (near Rockford) and we got no snow at all yesterday even though they were calling for an inch or so, the storm they are getting wallopped by came up from the south - I know Tornado watches and flooding in Miami. Hubby down in Jacksonville, thankfully he was able to get in ok last night. most of the rest of his flying is through the midwest the next few days, so he shouldn't have any issues, still don't know when he will be home though :(
