Hey girls! So sorry I'm late this week, the babysitting was kicking my butt, ha!
This month, we're going to take a stroll through some fabulous DINING ROOMS! I think in most homes, the Dining Room is the next room you come to after coming through someones entryway At least it's that way in most homes I've seen, lol! I found some really fab dining rooms to get your mojo flowing this week!
Details:
This year, we're going with a theme we're calling "At home with Verve: A year long home walk-through"
What does that mean? Well, we thought it would be fun to have our sketch challenges this year accompanied by inspiration you find around your own home! I'm constantly seeing things in my house that give me a color combo or maybe even a layout idea!
Every month this year we'll walk through a different room and every week I'll bring you some inspiration pictures of different rooms. You can use these inspiration pictures in any way you want--a color combo, a texture, a style, anything your heart desires! There will also of course be a sketch, the backbone of our challenges! So using the weekly sketches, you'll create an inspired card based on one of the photos I provide. I'll also allow your own room to be your inspiration! Of course the only stipulation to this is that you must use the room we're walking-through for that month.
For February, the shortest month of the year, there will be 4 sketch challenges! All four sketch challenges MUST be uploaded to the SCS gallery by midnight on the 25th of February, and the winner will be announced on the 26th, along with the first challenge of March! Sound like a plan?
Keywords this month are going to be VLVFeb2010 and Verve (if you use Verve stamps)
Here are the inspiration photos and the sketch, hope you enjoy!

This second one did not come out as I had hoped but I spent a great deal of time with it so I am posting. I just pictured draper, tablecloth..... I have no idea what I was thinking! LOL!
Oh, how fun! Thanks for taking it easy on us with the sketch -- so many ways to make that work!
Of course, I have to ask... Does anyone here's dining room look like any of those photos? Really? Perhaps it's just me... I'd love to use my own dining room as inspiration, but it seems to be the room with the largest flat surface. For collecting stuff, that is. Right now, I think there's a photo printer, a stack of preschool artwork, some golf balls, and probably a toy truck or two. Plus, my youngest has recently started climbing. Onto everything. So all of the chairs are "lassoed" with a nylon rope to try to prevent him from pulling out a chair and getting hurt in the second or two it would take for him to do so. Can I turn that into a card?!?
Thanks for the challenge - as usual, inspirations are hard for me. I used the image on the left - using the distressed stripes based on the folds of the draperies. My colors are not as subtle. The lower part of the card represents the floor. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...4331?&cat=8178
Well, this is my first challenge ever and my first card to upload to SCS - finally! I am always so busy....sorry it took me until this week to post!
My card was inspired by my own dining room, which is painted with 2 shades of blue and decorated with white plates w/ blue designs. My table is decorated (for the first time I think!) with silver chargers and a homemade centerpiece with blue & silver wintertime flower picks and a decorative glass bowl full of blue ornaments w/ SU! silver decor decal snowflakes.
I just found your challenges. Therefore this is my first entry. TFL :O) http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...&ppuser=150426
I chose the second photo with the grays, blacks and whites, etc.
Thanks for all you do for us.
I chose the dining room #2....so elegant. I tried for this look in my card but not sure I pulled if off. My husband loved it but he is a little biased. Ha! http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...7140?nocache=1

I know I missed the deadline but I wanted to use this sketch anyway. It was perfect for an anniversary card for my Aunt and Uncle who will be celebrating 50 years of marriage in March.
