Hello hello!! How are you guys on this Royal Wedding day? I admit it, I'm not watching! I'd rather just see the dresses once they've made it onto the internet, lol! I'm nose deep in a book and I just don't want to watch tv, ha! You know what I DO want to do? Post a sketch challenge!
Details:
Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded by the last Thursday of the month (check for the due date below!) The winner will be announced on the next day and will win the ENTIRE next Verve stamp release! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch!
For May, we'll have FIVE sketches! All five cards must be uploaded to the VLVMay2011 gallery by midnight, CST on Thursday, June 2nd to be eligible to win this month's prize! Winner will be announced on June 3rd! GOOD LUCK!
Keywords for the entire month will be VLVMay2011 and Verve (if using Verve stamps).
Some info:
If you're new to the gallery, here's a little info on how to add your cards to our gallery:
If you haven't uploaded your cards yet, just click the Upload a Card link in the left sidebar. Keep the default category as Member Galleries. Then follow the form to browse to the photo of your card on your computer, enter a title and description then click upload/submit. On the next screen it asks you for the ingredients of the card and also has a Keyword section. In this section type the keyword for this month's challenges... VLVMay2011. When you're done filling things out, click process. It takes a few minutes to show up in our challenge gallery but as long as you've got the correct keyword, your photo will eventually appear in the VLVMay2011 Gallery.
If you've already uploaded your cards, you can edit the keywords by going to the photo in your gallery. In the bottom right corner under the information below the picture, there is an Edit Photo button. Click this, then in the Edit keywords section add the VLVMay2011 keyword and then click process. These changes take about 10 minutes or so to appear, but then your card should appear in our challenge gallery.
See all entries in the VLVMay2011 Gallery Here!!!
Here's the sketch:
It's pretty plain, but I wanted to leave you room to make it your own
I have some amazing samples for you today from Andrea, Teresa, and my Schmoopy, Moe! Thanks for the cards ladies, SO inspirational!!! Enjoy the sketch, can't wait to see your cards!!
This was a fabulous sketch to work with Amber! So many possibilities!
Thanks for getting sketchy with us instead of watching the wedding...I'm sure that I was in a peaceful slumber while it was going on...
no, YOU'RE Schmoopy!!! I couldn't stay up until 2:00 AM to watch and face 22 7 year olds today, but I did see some replays at breakfast...getting into the carriage and the "kiss" on the balcony. Will watch it all tonight....I'm a sucker for a fairytale!! LOL

So excited to see a new sketch already. I thought you guys might be taking this Friday off and waiting for the first official Friday in May and I was gonna have to wait another full week to play. I am determined to finish all the sketches this time.
How is the winner determined? Is it a random drawing or are you judged by the design of your cards? Just curious.
Jennipher, it's chosen randomly! I could NEVER pick a favorite, you guys just blow me away every week and I'd have to choose one, lol! You'd ALL be emailing Julee, then she might get made at me, ha!

Thanks for the fun sketch - It looks like I may have a chance to play today. We already have our summer tires back on our cars and now we have snow again - arrgghh - won't be going anywhere for a while.
Mine's super simple this week (maybe I'll squeeze in another one). Needed a birthday card for an 8-yr-old boy....uggh...my worst type to make. But I need another Teacher Appreciation card (or two) and a Mother's Day card (or three)....Aye-yi-yi.. LOL.
Got home from a weekend visiting my kids, and took a minute to stamp when I was putting some goodies I purchased while I was there...LOL My husband thought I was nuts after traveling... Here is my take on this great sketch!
“If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning... Face it, friend. He is crazy about you!” - Max Lucado
Great sketch Amber! I haven't played along in months, so glad I made some time this weekend! Thanks for the fun sketch and beautiful inspiration from the Divas! Here's my VLVMAY2001

LOL, that's what happened to me a few weeks ago! It didn't stay though, so I was okay...just detailed the car this weekend and put away the rubber floor mats...hope that didn't jinx anything! LOL Sounds like your snow is staying? Good excuse to stamp!!
Thanks to Andrea for inspiring me to give this weeks sketch a try. Love the elengant look of the pleated background and special thanks to the link on Becc'a blog for the tutorial!! I liked it so much I made two!!
Here's MY CARD
Beautiful cards, Ladies! I love the sketch, Amber. I just received a package of goodies from Julee (does she ship fast or what?!) and hope to play along this week.

I attempted the sketch and the amazing pleating (as shown in Andrea's card)
I'm a little embarrassed by this first one ... it's a little on the wonky side ... but I want to play so here it is: http://images.splitcoaststampers.com...?ts=1304626405
I did try again with a circle center and that one turned out a bit better - I am looking forward to trying more of this idea as it looks so neat on the other cards posted ... I think I need some help with sealing the sides ... what is everyone else doing? On my second one, I just ended up building up the sides with three layers of sticky foam ... any ideas for me??
Here's the second one if you would like to see it - I'm submitting this one in the May Flowers challenge on the Verve Blog: http://images.splitcoaststampers.com...?ts=1304626408
Thanks for looking and thank you to all of you for the great ideas and fabulous inspiration!

That's exactly what I did with my card, Michelle, I built up the sides with foam dots and then strung that lace strip around the whole panel and glue-dotted it to the back. Goin' over now to check out your fabby cards...

Thanks so much Andrea ... I appreciate you filling me in ... so other than the lace, you didn't "hide" your foam dots at all?? Your card just turned out incredibly fabulous! I am excited to try this out a little more ... CTMH has lots of neat paper that will work great for the medallions ... I never did find the sheet I was looking for
Since you're so helpful, if you don't mind, what size is everyone else uploading their cards? Mine seem so small and I just thought I was using what Splitcoast requests ... but I would sure like to show the detail a bit more ....
I'm so excited, this is my first Verve challenge!! I just got my first stamps yesterday and I'm aspiring to someday be near as good as you all, although that's not likely to happen as the cards here are so stunning!! Anyway, here's a first go at it: You Make a Difference by DJRants - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Here's a fabulous tutorial by Amy Sheffer on photographing your cards. She suggests to make your longest side 800 pixels, so that's what I do. Check out her tutorial here...it's a must for making your cards look as good as IRL! (In real life)

Thank you Andrea! If there was an award for being the "most helpful & always saying the sweetest things & posting the nicest comments" ... YOU would win it! And you could put it right next to your row of "Consistent Creator of Amazing and Exceptional Cards" awards! You are a sweetheart - thank you for the link! I'm off to learn! I thought I had read 300 somewhere so that might be what my problem is ...
Thanks!!! I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite
Love this sketch Amber ... it gave me an opportunity to use one of the Verve stamps that I just received ... my very first from Verve. Here is my card .....
