AUG11VSNK ~ Saturday, August 27 ~ 5:00pm EST ~ Saloon Girls
Title: Saloon Girls
Hostess: Alaine; Lainy67
Keyword: AUG11VSNK
Day/Date: Saturday, August 27
Time: 5:00pm EST
Contrary to some media portrayals, most saloon girls in the old west were considered "good" women by the men that patronized the bar. Mistreatment of the saloon girls was just not done, either because the barkeep or other men patronizing the bars required it, not to mention that many of the ladies themselves kept pistols or jeweled daggers hidden in their boots or or tucked into their corsets / outfit. The saloon girl was there to brighten the mens evenings. They sang, danced and talked to the men. This encouraged the men to stay at the saloon and buy drinks and play more games.
The Saloon girls would wear ruffly / lacy skirts that were much shorter than women of the day would wear. Underneath the overskirt, the petticoats were longer tittilating the patrons of the bar with glimpses of the "underthings". The arms and shoulders were left bare and they typiccally had very low cut bodices trimmed out with lace, fringe and bling. Stockings held up by garters with kid boots finished out the outfit.
My challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make a card inspired by the Saloon Girls of the Old West. Sassy Ladies, Corset Cards, Lacy Garter Belts and Petticoats. The one twist on this is you need to use either red or black lace somewhere on your card. That shouldn't be too hard now should it?

To give you some inspiration - take a gander at these saloon girl inspired cards that I worked up... and look at the gallery for some that the other hostesses created for this challenge (those are incredible):
Hey everyone! Finally back from 'picking up' the Cabana Boy. We ended up having lunch out, then I snuck into JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby. That was the fee for me spending the afternoon with him so he wouldn't have to come home and get unmotivated.
He's out on the Harley now! And I'm in the yard romping with bunnies & kitties. No studio time until they are tuckered out.
GREAT challenge Lainy!

Korin - This is really a great card. I really do LOVE how you interpreted the theme. That is one of the amazing things about the challenges, is everyone interprets things so differently. THANK you for playing.
Funny how this little hussy always seems to make a VSN appearance. LOL She has come in handy with quite a few challenges in the past. Who knew she'd be so versatile?
Thanks for the saloon girl info and the challenge! I took inspiration from the "longer petticoat" info to use different colored glitter on the bottom part of the dress. Also had to color some lacy fiber black. Here is the result (and remind me to quit using glitter!)
