Default AUG11VSNZ ~ Friday, August 26th ~ 10:00pm EST ~ Rope Some Steer

Title: Rope Some Steer
Hostess: Lisa Rasmussen, helmts1981
Keyword: AUG11VSNZ
Day/Date: Friday, August 26th
Time: 10:00pm EST

When I think of a rodeo I think of hot cowboys on their horses ropin' steer. Probably because I live near San Francisco I get most of my rodeo knowledge from TV or the movies. I am sure my thinking is way off base!

My challenge is……for you to make a card with twine.

you can go for elaborate creations with tons and tons of twine or you can be understated and only have a little bit of twine! You HAVE to use twine though!

VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE AUG11VSNZ

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 8:00 PM EST ON Monday August 29th.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, AUG11VSNZ , when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.

It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your layout is seen.

Oh how I dig this challenge!!! I could use twine on every card!! It's so delicate and easy to work with, tie bows with - it's super.

Here's my card: AUG11VSNZ I twine, you twine... by Understandblue - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Excellent! I love using twine (and yes, it goes perfectly with western themed cards too, though I am not sure if that is what I am making...)

No worries about western themes (unless you are using another challenge that calls for that). I made cards that I could use for upcoming events so I can always keep up my supply on hand

LOL!

I have a bunch of ideas swirling around... wonder which one will end up on paper?

I have a quick question...where do you get bakers twine? I was in JoAnne's and I couldn't find so I asked someone and they looked at me like I was crazy and told me to try the grocery store.

Wasn't sure if my black and white baker's twine was quite the thing but I went with it:

If you have a local scrapbooking or stamp store you might find it a bit easier then a big chain. Also thick embroidery thread can do the trick in a pinch as well! Remember the thread we used to make friendship bracelets with? that is pretty much what backers twine is except sun around each other

the masculine card sample I have is the linen thread that stampin up carries if that helps and the bakers twine I used on the other card is from The Cats Pajamas

I got 3 of the monster spools online from Whisker Graphics (they are awesome to order from, btw). I have seen it locally at Ben Franklin, and I think Martha Stewart had some out around Christmas...maybe JoAnn's or Michael's?

I had a hard time deciding how to use twine, but I had this great stamp of a roping cowboy, so I finally decided to stitch the twine around the edge. Fun challenge!
