AUG09VSNPOT2~FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2009~7PM EDT~Dragon Fruit Salad
Title: Dragon Fruit Salad
Hostess: Kathy (kkrab5)
Keyword: AUG09VSNPOT2
Day/Date: FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2009
Time: 07:00 PM EDT
I was fortunate to have my company send me to a conference in Bangkok, Thailand, this spring and I was awestruck by the beauty of the country and the warmth of the Thai people. The sights, sounds, and aromas are simply lovely! When in Thailand, of course you must sample the local cuisine. The hotel had a scrumptious breakfast buffet featuring fresh fruitsincluding some that I had never heard of! This
website gives a good overview of the variety of fruits found in Thailand. My favorite new fruit was the dragon fruit. I love the pink and green, spindly, dragon outside and the surprising black and white inside. The fruit tastes kind of like a kiwi, but not as tart.
My challenge is to create a card using the colors of a dragon fruit:
pink ,
green ,
black , and white. You can use the attached dragon fruit picture as inspiration.
UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS :
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EDT ON (SUNDAY, JULY 19th (for Soups/Salads/Cheese mini).
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword (AUG09VSNPOT2) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in the chat thread just in case the gallery is being testy.

I love colour challenges and these colours are too fun!!!
We've had dragon fruit a couple of times. I see it quite often when we shop.....as a homeschool family we've taken it upon our selfs to try a ton of funky stuff!!! The fruit inside is very soft and light tasting...similar to a kiwi but there is no core in the middle just soft fruit throughout!!

I need a drink.
So, if I were to buy a dragon fruit, how would I tell when it's ripe enough to eat?

Hmmmm, delightfully crisp with a smidgen of sunshine - I'm looking out of my window at some rather ominous clouds, however.

Kathy, Thanks for a fun challenge. I went whimisical with the name of the fruit. Sorry for the 'blurry' photo. I've been having issues focusing lately.
Don't know if you can see the black dots in the flowers to represent the inside of the fruit.
