Talking July 2011 Get Your Diva On!

Hi Verve fans! It's the second Monday of July and time for the next Get Your Diva On Challenge! Are you ready?

For those of you that are new to these challenges, not only is it a fun way to challenge your stamping skills, but one lucky participant will be chosen to be the next GUEST DIVA! Here's a little more info on that...

Each month a different Diva will "host" a week long challenge. The challenge itself is up to the Diva hostessing, so you never know what it's going to be! The GYDO challenge starts on the 2nd Monday of every month. Participants will have until the following Sunday night (July 17th) at 9 pm Mountain to enter. The winner will be announced Tuesday, June 21st. We'd LOVE to see you use your Verve stamps, but if you don't have any, we'd still love to see your creations!!

The winner of the challenge (chosen by Julee) will get to be a Guest Diva in an upcoming release AND will receive all of the stamps/dies for that release for free! They will also get to play along with the Divas during the pre-release Spotlights as well as at the Release Party!! How's THAT for exciting?!!

So the challenge this month is the Pretty Purse Plastic challenge!! You know, all those pretty Gift Cards sitting in our purses, just waiting to be used. Aren't some of them beautiful? Use one of my pretty purse plastic images as inspiration or one found in your own purse! If you are using your own, it would be fun to see it by adding the image to a comment on this thread, or adding it to your card picture

If you're new to the gallery, here's a little info on how to add your card to our gallery: If you haven't uploaded your cards yet, just click the Upload a Card link in the left sidebar. Keep the default category as Member Galleries. Then follow the form to browse to the photo of your card on your computer, enter a title and description then click upload/submit. On the next screen it asks you for the ingredients of the card and also has a Keyword section. In this section type the keyword for this month's challenges... GYDOJuly2011. When you're done filling things out, click process. It takes a few minutes to show up in our challenge gallery but as long as you've got the correct keyword, your photo will eventually appear in the GYDOJuly2011 Gallery.

If you've already uploaded your card, you can edit the keywords by going to the photo in your gallery. In the bottom right corner under the information below the picture, there is an Edit Photo button. Click this, then in the Edit keywords section add the GYDOJuly2011 keyword and then click process. These changes take about 10 minutes or so to appear, but then your card should appear in our challenge gallery.

Make sure you use the keyword GYDOJuly2011 when you upload so that we can see all of the challenge creations in one place!

So are you ready to Get YOUR Diva On!! Get out those gift cards and SPEND, er, CREATE!!

Here are a few samples from yours truly (I was inspired by the fabulous glamour of my Bath and Body works card and Diva Teresa who was inspired by her own Starbucks card! Diva Charmaine rocks my Michaels card and then some! Diva Andrea created this gorgeous matchbook gift card holder to give to someone special (me, Andrea? teehee).

okay, funny story about my Michaels gift card...I see it in Michaels a few months ago and thought it would be perfect for this challenge...so I get some money put on it. The next time I go to Michaels, I spend the money, and the cashier TAKES the card from me...apparently they do this instead of allowing you to reload it like a Starbucks card. I hadn't taken a picture of the card yet, so I start explaining to the cashier how I need the card to take a picture for an online challenge...blah, blah, blah....I then realize how ridiculous this must sound to her, let her take the card and leave Michaels . Went back a week later and got another card...LOL

Woohoo! Gorgeous samples, Divas! I can't wait to see what everyone creates!

And that's so funny about the gift card, Moe! Guess you'll just HAVE to take another trip to Michael's again (and if a FEW fabulous little things happen to hop into your cart while you're there, it was totally for a good cause!)! LOL

This is the perfect Moe challenge Love the Michael's story. Guess the cashier wasn't a card maker LOL!

Great samples, Divas

LOL Andrea, we could totally use the Home Depot one...thanks!! LOL Actually, I have a very pretty HomeSense card (I think it's a Canadian Store...like a discounted homeware store) from all my parents this year...they all chipped into give me one as they know we are building

Holly, I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! It was kind of silly as I realized what I was trying to explain to this cashier...and she started to get that glazed look on her face!!

Marisa, totally not a card maker and one of those cashiers that can't give back change without the machine total.

What a totally original idea for a challenge, Moe - and your Michael's story is hilarious! I knew you were a "take one for the team" kind of gal - chocolate eggs...trips to Michael's... good girl.

Thanks for the good chuckle, Maureen! You would think that a craft store worker would understand a crafters dilemma! LOL At least this now means you have more Michael's goodies headed your way!

I'm off to go dig through my wallet for inspiration!

So this was real hard... taking something flat with no dimension (maybe it's the card I chose) I was so scared to add anything... I am such a to the T follower, when I see a sketch I do it exactly (minus not owning a shape). So when I see the gift card, it was so plain and simple... and I don't really do plain, so it took some work of how to not take away from the image. I was stretched, but guess that means I need to practice things other than a sketch!!! Anyway - Thanks for the fun idea and chance to play.... here is what I came up with....

I've been thinking about this challenge all week trying to decide which card to use since I have none in my wallet! Should I use Moe's cute SB bird card or Michael's card? Find one online? What? So I finally look on my hubby's nightstand and find this cool movie gift card. Voila, a card is born! I love inspiration challenges because everyone's cards turn out so unique! I'm very happy with mine, thanks for the challenge, Moe.

Here's a link to the gift card
