Get Your Diva On Challenge - February 2011 (2-14-11)
ETA: Thanks to everyone for playing! The winner is posted --> HERE <--!!!
Hi there! It's Charmaine and I'm kicking off a NEW challenge that's going on here in the Verve Forum! It's the Get Your Diva On Challenge! So what's it all about you ask?
The Details
Well, each month a different Diva will "host" a week long challenge. The challenge itself is up to the Diva hostessing, so you never know what it's going to be! Isn't that kind of exciting?!! The Get Your Diva On challenge will start on the 2nd Monday of every month. Participants will have until the following Sunday night (February 20) at 9 pm Mountain to enter. The winner will be announced Tuesday, February 22. Edited to Add: We'd LOVE to see your Verve stamps, but if you don't have any, we'd still love to see your creations!!
The winner of the challenge (chosen by Julee) will get to be a Guest Diva in an upcoming release AND will receive all of the stamps/dies for that release for free! They will also get to play along with the Divas during the pre-release Spotlights as well as at the Release Party!! How's THAT for exciting?!!
So are you ready to play? My challenge for you is an Inspiration Challenge! Being that today is Valentine's Day, I thought it only fitting to have an inspiration photo celebrating today! So, make a creation inspired by this photo and upload it to the gallery! Please make sure to use the Key Word GYDOFeb142011 so that we can find all of your creations in one place! Have fun, Happy Valentine's Day and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Here is my take on this photo along with stunning creations from Divas Maureen and Teresa!
And if you're new to the gallery, here's a little info on how to add your card to our gallery:
If you haven't uploaded your cards yet, just click the Upload a Card link in the left sidebar. Keep the default category as Member Galleries. Then follow the form to browse to the photo of your card on your computer, enter a title and description then click upload/submit. On the next screen it asks you for the ingredients of the card and also has a Keyword section. In this section type the keyword for this month's challenges... GYDOFeb142011. When you're done filling things out, click process. It takes a few minutes to show up in our challenge gallery but as long as you've got the correct keyword, your photo will eventually appear in the GYDOFeb142011 Gallery.
If you've already uploaded your card, you can edit the keywords by going to the photo in your gallery. In the bottom right corner under the information below the picture, there is an Edit Photo button. Click this, then in the Edit keywords section add the GYDOFeb142011 keyword and then click process. These changes take about 10 minutes or so to appear, but then your card should appear in our challenge gallery.
Fabulous insp. picture, Charmaine. Looking forward to playing

What a beautiful inspiration picture! I went with the circular elements of the plate, napkin roll, etc. and the soft pinks to create this baby card. Thanks to the divas for so many gorgeous samples...fabulous eye candy!

I was just checking out the Verve blog, love this month's sketches & challenges. Do we have to use Verve stamps to participate? Sadly I only have two sets (gasp). My budget can never seem to keep up with my wishlists! LOL
Here is my take for the inspiration challenge. I was inspired by the crystal to use clear cardstock. A first for me so thanks Charmaine for stretching me.
I have a couple of questions.
I am fairly new to stamping and card making. It was suggested that challenges are a great way to learn to do this . It gives you guide lines to follow and gets people to do things out of their comfort zone.
I have figured out how to upload a "grand total of 2 cards" to my SCS gallery. LOL
The cards I did were entered into another companies challenge, but they had a "link button" on their blog to also put my cards there.
Do cards for a Verve challenge only go in my SCS gallery with the key words such as GYDOFED142011 or are they also posted some where else such as a Blog?
Where can I find all the rules for these challenges such as do you need to use Verve stamps? Currently I do not have any Verve stamps as I am gradually adding to my supplies . At this point I just work with what I have.
I noticed that people on this thread also put their cards in a little PDF in a box in their post and I don't know yet how to do that . Are there directions to somewhere on how to add those PDF's?
Thanks !!
Any help would be deeply appreciated
Barbara Jay
Yes, challenges are a GREAT way to learn and get you motivated and inspired since they give you a starting point. . .that's why I love them! This particular challenge is based here in the Verve Forum, so there is no blog that you need to upload your creation to, just upload here in the SCS gallery.
As far as the rules, they are all in the original post above, but I see I forgot that particular rule! Oops! I'm going to say that ANY stamps are fine since that's usually how Verve challenges/contests go. We'd LOVE to see some Verve, but if you don't have any we'd still LOVE to see your creations!
As far as the "PDF box", when you reply to a thread, there is a button below the reply box that says "Manage Attachments". If you click on that, it will allow you to upload a file. That's why you're seeing some photos within the thread. You don't need to do that, though, as long as you have your creation uploaded to the gallery with the Key Word GYDOFED142011.
Hope that answers all of your questions! Hope you play along!

Hi Stacy! I forgot to put that "rule" in there! LOL I'm going to say that ANY stamps are fine. We'd LOVE to see Verve, but if you don't have any, we'd still love to see your creations! Hope you'll play along!

Charmaine Thank you very much for the information.!!
I saved it for future reference
One more question. Are the winners "chosen" or does Verve use a "Random drawing" ?
I really like the sketches you provided for Feburary! I book marked the Verve Blog and signed up for the newsletter for the future
Thanks again
Barbara

Charmaine, your inspiration was just what I needed to get the pink ON! I used the sketch from Verve's Feb 2011 challenge week four...hope this is acceptable!!!
Peaceful Wishes
Photo below is just a close up of the flower.

I'm slowly easing into the forum here on SCS...I've shied away in the past because it all seemed a little messy & confusing for me to follow the posts/replies, etc and find my way around (blogs are much easier to navigate it seems to me, but maybe that's just because that's what I'm more used to)...but I'll give it a shot and start finding my way around here more often!
Anyway, though I have lots of Verve stamps, I was just itching to use this new Cupcake stamp set that I have, so no Verve on this one...sorry! I'll make sure and pull out my Verve goodness next time.
I love the pink inspiration photo, and your card is FABULOUS, Charmaine! Mine's pretty simple, but I'm totally enamored of Valentine colors, so this was fun. Thanks for the gorgeous photo inspiration!
