Default CHALLENGE IDEAS?

Hey peeps!

We are on a ROLL with our Hip Hop sketches and you can definitely expect more of those in the future!

However, I would LOVE to hear from you guys in terms of what KIND of challenges you'd like to see brought to UNITY, and also hear whether or not you think you'd like to participate in them weekly!

We have some FUN stuff up our sleeves soon...but UNITY wouldn't be UNITY without the input of all of YOU GUYS!!!!

THOUGHTS? Can't wait to hear them, and THANK YOU for being willing to share them with us. You are ALL so important to us!!!

Hmmmmmmmm.

Trying to think what forces me outside of my "box". Maria's are fabulous, I just need to quit ripping my house apart and play more.

Color challenges. Stuff like the current paper piecing challenge. Random material challenges...for example....

Must use only cardstock, no PP
Must use at least three DIFFERENT PP's
Must use at least 3 brads

Making any sense?

I really enjoy color and sketch challenges. I also like ones that make me think outside my box. Like the single layer challenge, having restrictions on what you can use and only being able to use what's listed.
Can't wait to see what you ladies come up with!

HI Jessica...woohoo for keeping this forum active! *smile*

I love all the challenges so far, and I would add:
-how about using a certain kind of image, i.e., flowers, animals, transportation, furniture, etc.
-I personally love inspiration challenges, as everyone creates something totally different.

Maybe it's just me, but I will share one of the most difficult things for me is keeping up with searching for the current challenges. I wish all challenges would be in a separate 'challenge' thread with dates or something.

Anyway, I try to keep up with challenges and sometimes I have the best intentions and actually do the challenge, but forget to post it...ha!

Thanks for asking Jessica and look forward to chatting with you here in the forum! Have a fantastic day!

Recipe challenges ARE fun! I also love Maria's sketch challenges - hope to see more of those.

Gotta tell ya - that NO DP challenge is tough for me! LOL

I love color challenges as well - or inspiration challenges, post a picture or theme & let everyone run with it!

Thanks for making it SO fun over here!!

Talking deranged ideas :P

I really like a colour challenge like the Playdate cafe one.

I wonder too, if every once in a blue moon, we could have a wildcard challenge that allows you to use any stamp in your collection - Unity and {ippity} are my favourite ever, but just sometimes you have something else that fits the bill but can't use.

what about a mood challenge? A card that expresses a mood - happy, sad, blue, grumpy, excited, silly, sentimental, whatever! - you could give a colour guide to go with it (or not).....

Just some thoughts from a deranged mind haha

btw, thanks for all the work you all put into these challenges - you amazing people you - really appreciate it

These ideas ALL sound wonderful ! AJ and I have cleaned up the two forums (main and Unity Friends) a bit and will continue just a few minor things so that it's easier to find. We are also going to start posting to the blog, too!

I am SO excited about these wonderful ideas and can't wait to see who's up for participating!!!

I'm not sure how to translate this into a challenge, but it keeps running thru my head. So here ya go.

I remember seeing a blog somewhere that had 1 sketch, 3 ways. As sketched, turned, from a card into a LO, etc.

Which got me thinking - one stamp set, three ways. This could be simple to open up to a bunch of folks if you did all owls, all trees/flowers, etc...things that exist in multiple sets?

Ok, I did this a couple times with a group at CafeMom & we all had a lot of fun with it. It was a build a card challenge. Basically every hour or (sometimes we did every day to have a week long but that was kind of hard) so, we add another step to your card. So, step 1 would be pick out your base & DP. step 2. stamp your image & color step 3. add ribbon, etc. etc. etc... At the end you'd have a fully built card & it was fun to see how diff everyone's turned out with the same steps. Not sure how to translate that in a blog tho. hehe Just thought I'd mention it.

I think it's great to have more Unity challenges - I started collecting Unity stamps from March this year. Have to say I haven't managed to use them all, so Unity challenges is a great way for me to break out those stamps. I'm new to challenges, and I find it inspiring - whether it is colour, inspiration, sketches or techniques. I think some fun folds card challenges would be great too.

How about black and white with a pop of any color you wish?

Or white on white card with a small pop of color?

A music themed card?

Masculine card?

Sweet 16 card?

a card with an unusual item on it
use paperclips
choose 2-3 color points on a color wheel
make an ATC and add it to a card

Default BINGO

I once played a challenge that was really fun. It was a bingo card and under each letter there was a different instruction:

i.e. Under the B

ribbon
orange
chipboard
journaling

And so on under each of the letters that spell BINGO. Then each player can pick which line to follow: down, across, or diagonal. Many different combinations come up and it's really a diversified challenge.

How about base your card on the colors of your state (or equivalent - provice/canton etc.) flag? I've seen challenges based on flags, but not this one.

LOVE both of those ideas!

Maria-what about a "birthstone" challenge. Use bling and cardstock colors that are what your birthstone is? (or very close?)

What about some kind of resist technique? Emboss then ink, Maya road resist, something like that....

Another one. No patterned paper, make your own - but do NOT use stamps. One example technique.

Here's a crazy one:

How about cut a favorite photo from a mag and incorporate it into a card?

Or not so crazy:

A challenge based on a piece of artwork, photo, etc

Maybe an abc challenge: (or any other 3 consecutive letters)

could be apples, beribboned, chalk
could be arrows, bows, cherubs
could be argyle, buttons, candles

Whatever you can think of!

hey ladies! I know i know it has been FOR-ever since I have been around the Unity forum! Forgive me! I MISS you all!

Not sure if this challenge has been done yet but Here is an idea, I assume most of us Unity lovers has more than one KOM from the last couple years..What about a challenge where you have to use *any number stamps* from more than 1 KOM?

What about having to use supplies that aren't necessarily "crafty" My husband had some tin roofing caps that work excellently as tags, for example.

I'm fairly new to Unity and Ippity. I only started buying Unity stamps (the KOTMs) in June and I have two Ippity background stamps but I love using them!!! I just wish the mail service would hurry up and deliver my Oct KOTM. I recently participated in my first Unity challenge (HHSC26) and I look forward to participating in many more Unity/Ippity challenges.

Some ideas I have for challenges are related to the changing seasons:

*use trees/leaves/squirrels/apples
*incorporate all four seasons on a card
*create a card that's not a circle or square
*Christmas inspiration challenge
*Christmas colour challenge
*use a Unity stamp in an unusual way (see my HHSC26 card with the butterfly tree)
*use Unity stamps to create a background/dp (an idea that sprung from my HHSC26 card)

That's it for now! I'll definitely let you know if I have more ideas.

I love the look of monochromatic cards - using one main colour and just a hint of another.
