Question Roku (or similar) and/or Playon-anyone use these?

I know you can add channels that aren't listed in their channel shop to Roku. Has anyone tried this? Any channels (in the shop or otherwise) that are favorites?

We also have playon but it's a bit fickle with our connection so I don't watch things on it as much. We have netflix and amazon prime, and I am on a hulu plus trial right now. Not sure if I'll keep that, as I am not watching on it much.

Can't answer your question about other channel options, but I was curious if you were finding much on Amazon Prime that was not available already from Netflix. I've been wondering if the programming alone was enough of a reason for us to purchase Amazon Prime.

I'm watching Lark Rise to Candleford on Amazon right now and I couldn't find it on streaming on netflix. I think Gilligan's Island is another that is available on amazon prime but not on netflix. I'm not sure of others-I haven't really looked.

I got a Roku for Christmas and LOVE it! I put it in our bedroom and it's so easy to use. In the den we use a Wii for streaming. It's so much simpler to use than the Wii. We've had no connection issues with Roku, occasionally the Wii is fickle loading, but not often.

To answer the question about Amazon versus Netflix, yes there are some differences. Right now I am watching Downton Abbey season 2 on Amazon Prime for free, only season 1 is on Netflix. I am a student, so Amazon Prime is half price for me and well worth it due to the amount of things I purchase from them.
