Wow! I haven't watched all the past season of PR so some designers are new to me. However, I didn't expect a group challenge from the start. Definitely interesting times.
FWIW I would have made the hankerchief dress go home. Looked like a cheerleader in a blender.
I don't particularly disagree with who went home. I think she had a disconnect, between who she is and what she needed to do. There was no reason that that dress couldn't work with her aesthetic but it needed better construction.

Andre's dress looked great in theory and then a hot mess on the catwalk. I like the sheer part in the shoulders, back and the idea in general.

And I will put this out there - I didn't watch Wendy Pepper, but I did think it was funny when she was chosen last and then that night they all toasted her for being in Season 1 at Josh's insistance. They are both "players" this could get interesting.

I was surprised they had another "All Star" season so close to the last one. I can't remember when I started watching PR, but knew about half of them.
I've been watching some shows from a previous season from 2006 with Santino and Daniel. That was before I started watching. And Heidi was HUGELY pregnant!! The show as changed a little bit. That must have been before it changed from Lifetime to Bravo. But it is still interesting because to me it is all new!
I absolutely cannot stand the host this time. She has an annoying way of talking when she's announcing the judges, talking about the prizes, etc. It also kinda bugs me that the "mentor" is hardly around. She comes in to see what everyone is doing and that's it. She doesn't go to mood with them, doesn't announce that their models are coming in or that it's time to go to the runway, isn't there after the elimination, etc. I know that it's probably because it's all-stars but it really sticks out to me.
And wth is up with Suede always talking in the 3rd person about himself?

I think Suede did that in his season too from what I read before it started.
Isn't the mentor the editor of Cosmo? She is the one that luved Christopher's collection at NY fashion week.
TBH I not keen on this host, she's no Heidi. The mentor I am ok with. Tim got them through their first season, they are big kids now.
Watched most of the way through then my lot came home from class... didn't see who was eliminated last night but agree that the white dress (forgot designer) was the most eye catching and modern with a nod to the past.
The chevron slacks made me laugh. If they hadn't lined up there would have been catty comments about it. They were lined up and it was so what. Designers really can't win.

I'm watching, too! But to be honest, the first two shows have been pretty forgettable.
I'm glad they don't have the same host as last year--she was AWFUL (Wooden Woman). The host this year is a little bit better, but only in comparison. She's about as good as Brooke is on Dancing with the Stars, which isn't saying much.
I agree with the comment about there being no real mentor. The gal who comes in to do the critiques (Joanna Coles) is the editor of Marie Claire and is probably too busy/important to devote any more time than she already does. The show needs Tim Gunn!
Actually, the show needs a lot of things--experienced host, reputable judges, interesting challenges, an engaged mentor. If the producers are not willing to put the money and effort into the show, why even have it?
Oh dear, Joanna Coles would have raked me over the Coles for saying she was with Cosmo.
Don't hate me - never watched Seinfeld

You need to get the DVDs--start with season 1 and watch all the episodes in order. It starts out kinda slow, like all new shows, but it's soooo good.
LOL - I have caught the odd one so have the general idea but never really sat down and watched them.

You'll enjoy it more once you know the main characters and what makes them tick. They put the fun in dysfunctional! It's one of my all-time favorite TV shows and I've lost count of the number of times I've thought, "that reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where..." I mean, some of the situations they found themselves in seemed absolutely absurd, but they are so true to life.
Kristen thinks it is really good who went this week because that outfit looked more Halloween than couture.
I did think Anthony Ryan was going to win the challenge.

I had to watch the show on mute because I got a phone call. So Miss Iowa knows who went home (and she is not sorry about that) but she didn't get to hear all of the comments--good or bad.
My favorite was Emilio's. I'll have to try to catch the rerun.
Well in the workroom they are about to catfight with Laura Kathleen because she grew up priviledged and doesn't have an edit button on her mouth or just plain humility.
Made me laugh because she went to my alma mater when she said her high school cost more than her university. TBH I have no idea why she ended up at Western Kentucky University (she isn't from KY) a great school but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice coming from out of state...
I have to look at the catwalk again for comments. It is always when my lot come in from class.

Boy, the editing is sure making Laura Kathleen out to be a witch! Then again she did say that the others seemed to expect her to speak to them like they all came from the same place. How dare they! And you know us farmers. We're so fashion backward it's not funny. Nothing but promotional caps and tshirts and bib overalls for us, tyvm.

I think the rest of them need to get over themselves. The whole goal is to be a good enough designer to appeal to the Laura Kathleen's of the world. That is the bread and butter of a brand and what puts money in their pocket at the end of the day - daddy's little girls with disposable income. To openly deride one of those potential customer's for being afluent is potential brand suicide.

I don't think that's the issue at all. They have to communicate with each other to some degree. It would be hard not to. And it sounds like she's talking down to them which would bug me as well. She even said as much in her interviews. "they expect me to speak to them as if we're from the same place. That's not going to happen". She needs to be able to relate to all kinds of people if she's going to be designing. She can't just judge who is and isn't affluent or fashion forward based on what she is and how she grew up. I don't think they are deriding affluent people in general-only her because they currently (as of the show's taping) have a personal connection with her.

I don't even remember who won last week's challenge at this point! Wait, was it Anthony Ryan? (Or whoever made the colorblock blue, black and white dress with the black strips of fabric across the back?)
I do remember that Joshua's outfit was hideous and worthy of being sent home. lol
The show just isn't very interesting this time around. And so far I haven't seen anything that really makes me go WOW. kwim?

I think I mentioned before how much I adored Andrae, but when it came down between him and Joshua, sorry Andrae, was your time to go. I kind of got tired of how flustered he got because the judges just didn't get him, I didn't either.
During Joshua's season (8 or 9, don't remember), I hated him so much I couldn't wait for him to go then there was some turning point that made me want to hug him and I became a fan. Still am, it was so cool how he was able to explain to Laura K how everyone felt without talking behind her back. Not that I can accept how she talks to people, but Ivy and Kayne, grow up!
I honestly can't remember a turning point. Does anyone remember specifically what it was? I did some searching and most posts I saw (on other forums) people still hated his guts at the finale.
I do remember a big turning point last season with Gunnar. I hated to see him go after that.

I thought Joshua's turning point was similar to Gunnar's it was a challenge to with "real people" - that seems to sort those with their heads up their butts out.
Yeah, I get that LK is snooty and shouldn't talk down. She owes Joshua a lot for at least trying to bridge that gap.
And is it me or has Anthony Ryan's designing gotten much better since his first time on the show?!

I actually like the judges. It is kinda nice to have a break from Michael Kors! But I really don't like the host, whatever her name is. I like Joanna Coles, but I miss Tim Gunn.
Emilio walked that challenge. Thought Laura Kathleen was lucky not to walk on that... and Casanova. It really could have been any of those last three.
TBH it was the first time I completely agreed with top 3 and bottom 3 and pretty much can't remember the middle 3 except for thinking that someone might call out Josh for skinning the cookie monster for his look.

Can Ivy survive without Casanova? Could be an interesting week. TBH I would have picked Casanova over Ivy - What was unconventional about Ivy's dress?
FWIW I honestly thought that Josh was going home and then I remembered Kylie being on the panel. He definitely was channelling her inner diva. Could totally see Kylie in that outfit back in the day. I think that is what saved him.
I think they were right on Laura Kathleen's dress... the big gems at the bottom were odd. Without them that dress was pretty classy looking.
Was a bit suprized that Uli and Laura Kathleen were the only ones to pick up the mesh! Glad the judge picked up Uli seaming of the mesh of her side panels though.
I think Emilio should have made his dress with a lining. It would have helped stabilize the whole garment and I don't think it would have taken away from the challenge - but who knows anymore!

I hated to see Casanova go. He just seemed like such a sweetheart. I was really hoping it would be Ivy. She isn't too bad this season but boy, she was a real snot in her first season.
I think the mesh was actually that wide ribbon so I don't think she would have had enough width to not seam the side panels.

I thought it looked like she was taking it off of a roll that was narrower. I could be wrong. I hate to think a designer or even potential designer would think it ok to have a seam in mesh fabric. yikes.

I'm going to see if I can find it = but sometimes the mesh if folded and rolled...

On her table 8:06 into the program she has wide mesh. In front of it she has the narrow rolls. (yes I have just looked it up online)
TBH I don't know why every designer didn't pick up two packs of the mesh. Bet it would have helped Emilio's ribbon.
