Project Runway Season 12 (July 2013) Contains Spoilers

Started with a parachute and a debit card for the whole season they decide how much to spend on each challenge and a previous contestant returns! and the first deaf contestant too.

RiverIsis 07-26-2013 04:20 AM

Tim Gunn gets a save and the runway show is anonymous.

Lazorkay 07-26-2013 05:29 AM

Can someone PLEASE tell how Timothy is still in????????

OMG!

My favorites so far - Brandon, Sue, Helen, the red headed guy, and the older guy.

I don't have all the names down yet.

My not so favorites - TIMOTHY, Santo - ???? - I may call him the crybaby.

Kate had a beautiful dress. Was not happy with who went home.

RiverIsis 07-26-2013 07:15 AM

I can only think he is in for novelty value. Though I did think it was funny that Zach recognized the fabric as some he ordered and sent back to Mood. I think the "sustainability" is his cause of the moment as he isn't well thought out about it. Just look at his own clothing. He isn't wearing sustainability clothing. I have a friend that is nearly vegan, and doesn't wear leather except for steel toed work shoes. I also don't think "sustainability" lends itself to Project Runway because it doesn't matter what he designs if he can't find the right fabric that was discarded. And don't even get me talking about the no makeup the first week... why did he not ask their policies at that point?

Yeah can't wait for him and Sandro to go.

Sandro is just a mean person and I agree with the stripper chic comment. Honestly who designs an outfit for a women with her va jay jay hanging out!!! Just because women aren't men doesn't mean there aren't things that need to be covered there.

Really like Sue and Bradon so far.

Did you get the feeling that if Kahindo had added another layer of maybe a long sheer skirt she would have been kept in?

I don't think Kate will win. Although her dress this week was spectacular, it was "her challenge". Could totally see Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lawrence in it.

And Angela did deserve to go home for basically making a parachute out of a parachute.

Wasn't Miranda's outfit (top 3 but demoted to bottom 4 first week) for both weeks basically the same? Will have to look again.

Interesting season and that jewelry was gorgeous.

missiowa81 07-26-2013 11:18 AM

I missed the first week, but was able to watch the rerun/recap last night.

Geez--what a bunch of bee-itchy queens. It's this aspect of the show that I can't stand. Between the Russian guy and the Southern guy and their potty mouths, the show will be nothing but a continuous BLEEP.

Timothy should have been eliminated twice by now. LOL. Not only are his designs and execution horrible; he doesn't know the first thing about "sustainability." I think he's just looking for an angle to help him with the judges.

I was surprised by last night's elimination, and don't agree with it.

RiverIsis 07-27-2013 10:44 AM

I loved it when they pointed out the least sustainable thing to do was melt the nylon parachute. It is a definitely an angle and one that he didn't fully research or believe in.

I cracked up when they asked him if the shoes he was wearing were from the accessories wall! That was week 1, when his model was barefoot. He was wearing glittery high heeled hooker shoes. :p

Lazorkay 07-29-2013 03:42 AM

I don't understand Timothy staying either. Both his outfits were horrible. Just because K made a short dress??? Yes, the print was horrible, but with the overlay was much better.

I loved it when those 2 guys were going at it in the sewing room and the deaf guy just took off his hearing aid.

As much as I like Sue - I am already tired of her not knowing how to use the machines. Knowing PR always uses Brother machines, if I didn't have one, I would find a way to learn the basics of the machine.

All we need now is a team challenge. HA

RiverIsis 07-29-2013 04:45 AM

Yeah, I had forgotten that about Sue and totally agree. When I said I liked her, I meant her designs... her... well... hmmm... don't blame other people for what you don't know.

And could have totally seen Kahindo staying if she had just taken that dress to the next level - her construction was so much better. I know it isn't project sewing but it does help if they can.

koopdedoo 08-02-2013 02:52 AM

I am wondering if all of the applicants for the show have to prove that they can cry before they are selected for the season. I know being a little unstable adds to the drama, but it also takes away from the designing. What did you think about the Yoplait Frozen Yogurt Unconventional Challenge last night?

Lazorkay 08-02-2013 04:24 AM

I'm glad Miranda finally washed her hair! AND that Timothy is gone.

I was hoping that Dom and Alex's outfit won, but knew the red would.
I just loved that fun outfit - it was really stinkin cute.

Sando needs to go next. I am just tired of him - really the woman should do what the man says?????? What a cry baby.

RiverIsis 08-02-2013 12:57 PM

LOL - my tv didn't record so I have it set up for next week... now I'm looking forward to it!!!

You can watch it online at Projectrunway.com

missiowa81 08-02-2013 01:09 PM

Happy with last night's outcome; tired (already!) of all the sniping and BS.

Sandro is a tool. Wouldn't he and Poison Ivy (of a few years back) make a great pair? But only if she listened to him, which I doubt would happen. LOL

It's been years since I've been to a carnival or fair. Apparently bright blue and yellow are the "in" colors for midway prizes (in plastic/nylon?). I don't know what some of those designers were thinking going for that type of material and colors to work with. The winners were smart in terms of what they chose.

Not with my internet connection ATM. Tried most of the morning and couldn't get past them showing the jewels from last week's recap!

Lazorkay 08-05-2013 08:34 AM

bummer Kristen - I record PR at home, but usually watch it Friday morn's at the office - and I get here early just to do it! HA

Lazorkay 08-05-2013 08:35 AM

This week should be a hum dinger, cause Sandro crashes a camera!

Talk about a meltdown! What a jerk.

missiowa81 08-08-2013 06:36 PM

The winning look was adorable. Actually, all of the top 3 outfits were pretty cool. I loved the pinstripe dress.

Major spoiler: Who do you think would have been sent home if Sandro hadn't self-destructed? As the old saying goes, "Good riddance to bad rubbish." (highlight to read).

RiverIsis 08-08-2013 08:12 PM

Not going to highlight as I have taped it to watch in the morning. I've managed to get my computer issues sorted yesterday and watch last week's show.

Well isn't Tim just a precious little crazy unicorn.

So far I'm not into anyone's aesthetic. Did anyone think Kate threw the accolades to her partner to not be the frontrunner?

OK is Alexandria Geena Davis' love child?

The weird thing is I didn't think Tim's bolero was that awful... I think it had to be an accumulation of work and his general attitude.

And yes I was fed up with Sandro in episode 2 and am really over his attitude. Did they cast this season for drama? I liked last season better, it seemed to have a higher level of overall talent. Seems this season is quirky and drama...

missiowa81 08-08-2013 09:01 PM

Glad I didn't spoil it for ya, River (I edited my posts). LOL

Lazorkay 08-09-2013 04:12 AM

I haven't watched. Off to view it

RiverIsis 08-09-2013 05:11 AM

MissIowa I looked after I wrote it! Couldn't resist! Watching now.

RiverIsis 08-09-2013 05:16 AM

So happy Ken stood up to Sandro right at the beginning of the show! OK I love this challenge I even have ideas what I would like to see but then I would probably get kicked out for being too twee

I had kind of pegged Miranda to go home, also. The emerald green top was awful--cropped or not--and she barely incorporated the bowtie concept (well, the entire outfit was pretty uninspiring and referential). Or else the gal who made the long black dress with the bowtie "exoskeleton." I figured they were the bottom 2. But I guess we'll never know.

too twee??

Based on the previews, it looks as if Ken takes over as the bee-itchy diva. So I'm sure the next show will have no shortage of "drama."

I had this vision of doing a classic silhouette color blocked dress and starting at the hem the same bow tie in varying degrees of being tied until completely tied (or looking like it) at the top which would have probably been the waist, making a right angle triangle with the right angle being on the left side of the body... soo yeah, they would have probably thought is Southern Boutique chic more than runway.

And that is probably why I absolutely adored Dom's creation. I knew they were going to like it.

Bradon's I thought they would either love it or hate it.

I was ok with the exoskeleton...but agree it didn't quite work.

Looks like Alexandria and Ken melt down next week. :???: I liked him when he stood up to Sandro but the outtakes from next week aren't flattering.

And though I totally agree about the lace top by Jeremy I did think it was beautifully made.

It pains me that every year there seem to be so many contestants that just aren't up runway ready.

Also with the total spend card, are they allowed to use fabric/materials from previous weeks if they didn't present it on the runway?

I thought Alexander's rainbow peter pan collar wasn't inspired.

Karen's blue polka dot ensemble I just kept wondering what the heck is going on the front of the trousers.

For the life of me I can't work out how Sandro has made it as far as he has in fashion with that much need for validation and his abrupt attitude. Glad they sent him on his way, I was getting concerned he was going to get violent.

missiowa81 08-15-2013 09:48 PM

Aw man, why didn't they send Ken home? He is such an a-hole! And his designs haven't been that great.

I actually liked the team with the white and silver collection better, but what do I know? LOL

RiverIsis 08-16-2013 05:48 AM

yeah, I loved the white silver collection. I only liked 2 out of 3 of the winning collection.

from what they said at the end about him being lucky I think if Sue's look hadn't been so poor (and not sewn) that Ken would have gone.

They really have some people with attitude problems this season.

And how stupid of Sue to say she doesn't know how she sews. Girl you sell what you are - if you have an organic process then you sell it and explain how it didn't work so well in this group challenge.

oh and WTH with bringing Sandro back into the workroom. Such an overbearing, obnoxious, chauvinistic, arrogant, so and so. He didn't deserve any more air time!

Lazorkay 08-16-2013 09:00 AM

I think Sue said she didn't know how to sew - as in - if I don't know how t sew, then how did I get here? Heidi understood that.

I think Sue must hand sew mostly - but ????

Sue's outfit was the worst of the 3. I liked the white group as well - LOVED Brandon's dress. Jeremy's dress was super cute, as was Kate's.

Look's like next week, won't be filled with great work - ????

I didn't really understand why they bought some of the goods they did - they weren't EVER touched. Note to self: don't buy shower curtains to make clothes from - get some of the other stuff as well. :)

Here are my top picks so far:

Kate, Dom, Brandon, Jeremy and ( carp ) the deaf guy. There is no order ye, as I think any of these can win. Alexandra - I might add at a later date, along with Helen.

RiverIsis 08-16-2013 11:28 AM

deaf guy is Justin. I'm not certain. He definitely struggles and I haven't been overly enamored with his looks.

I thought the group didn't work because Ken was more determined to be belligerent than finding a way for the group to work together.

And going out on a limb here... but I think placemats are only a step away from being a shower curtain.

Lazorkay 08-16-2013 11:43 AM

JUSTIN - thanks, I couldn't remember his name.

agree on the placemats - but they do have to sew more when using them. :)

I think Karen is just in there somewhere - I don't see her winning unless she steps it up a bunch.

If I had to pick a winner right this moment, it would have to be Kate.
Has she made anything bad yet?

RiverIsis 08-16-2013 12:27 PM

I'm thinking Dom for the winner or definite finalist. Can't see Kate winning, without everyone going into meltdown about how unfair it is etc.

And Kate is doing very well at not winning but not being in the pack. She is savvy about not wanting more of a target on her back than already is from her having been in PR before.

missiowa81 08-16-2013 05:02 PM

I'm rooting for Dom, also.

Ken is a tool. He'll probably crash in a ball of flames like Sandro.

Speaking of which: I don't know why they bothered to bring Sandro back for that half-hearted apology to the others. I suppose just for "the drama." But if I were the other designers, I wouldn't have given him one minute of my time or attention.

RiverIsis 08-16-2013 05:44 PM

After having seen the editor's choices, wouldn't surprise me if Sandro insisted on coming back. He has such an ego he probably thought they were bawling their eyes out at his departure and couldn't bear to continue unless he said a few words.

missiowa81 08-16-2013 06:10 PM

Maybe Sandro figured he better try to mend some of the bridges he burned.

Think about it: Even if a contestant doesn't win Project Runway, I bet s/he could get letters of recommendation from people associated with the show, even from Tim Gunn if they make it farther in the competition. But if the person had the personality of Cruella deVille (or her male equivalent), what is Tim going to say?

Even with Sandro's apology, it would still be difficult to write a good letter of recommendation for him, especially in terms of his ability to get along with others.

RiverIsis 08-16-2013 06:46 PM

"Dear Prospective Employer

Re: Sandro

I remember Sandro well. He had a unique way of communicating with the other contestants and a single minded determination to do things his way with a superior attitude.

Probably shouldn't be allowed near sharp objects, women, minorities or children.

Hope he is everything you need."

missiowa81 08-16-2013 08:12 PM

http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/frech/c041.gif

Sounds about right. But anymore, people say a whole lot of nothing in letters of recommendation. Sometimes (if you're the person hiring) you have to read between the lines.
