What do you think?

jkstieber 09-04-2013 06:51 AM

This will definitely be one of those seasons where I get to know the people as we go along. I think I've heard of four of these people. (I admit, I don't watch a lot of TV anymore, I'm a bit out of the loop)

I give Valerie Harper a lot of credit for doing this, and I wish her well. I've always been a fan of hers, and I'm glad that she's doing better.

BabyNurse 09-09-2013 10:44 AM

This is another one that I swore I wasn't going to watch, but I will have to. I really like and admire Valerie Harper. Loved Leah Remini on King of Queens. I also like a couple of the others. Saw on the news the other morning that Jack Osbourne's wife had a miscarriage. She was well into the second trimester. I feel really bad for them.

LOL Granny!

I don't know who this guy is. I assume by your comment that he's a young CUB? ;)

missiowa81 09-10-2013 11:53 AM

Based on the number of posts in this thread, it seems that not many people are too fired up about the show? I know for myself, it's starting to get repetitive.

The stars this year are fairly "ho hum" for me. I expect Bill Engvall will be funny and I will definitely be cheering on Valerie Harper. Bill Nye the Science Guy is an interesting choice.

Couldn't care less about Snooki or Jack Osbourne. But ditto on liking Leah Remini from King of Queens. She was on Ellen yesterday talking about it. She was a little wacky!

And the rest I couldn't pick out of a lineup. :p

Keiki T 09-11-2013 05:28 AM

I remember when Leah Remini was on "Who's the Boss" way back when...and I too have always loved Valerie Harper...not only on "Rhoda" but "Valerie/ Valerie's Family: The Hogans" and "The Hogan Family" ...the several name changes it went :). That was when I really started liking Jason Bateman too. Bill Nye...I watched his show but not as much as I did "Beakman's World". I think this season will be pretty good...and may have to give it a chance. Haven't watched DWTS since Apolo Ohno was on it...maybe a couple seasons after that.

jkstieber 09-12-2013 09:14 AM

Whether or not I watch this season will depend on the dancers themselves. I was nearly bored to tears last season because there were so many either mediocre or just plain bad dancers in the lineup. Once some of these got eliminated I was a little more interested. I know these people aren't professional dancers, but it is more fun to watch if they have a least a little bit of talent.

BabyNurse 09-17-2013 06:33 AM

Great first night, I think

There were 2 or maybe 3 that were not as good as the rest, but overall I thought it was a good first night. They were kind of ugly to Bill Nye, but IMHO the football player was not any better, but they gave him higher scores. So glad it is only on once a week.

jkstieber 09-17-2013 06:51 AM

Definitely some surprises last night. I think this is the first season where I actually voted the first week. There's some good talent this season, it will be interesting to see if the top scorers keep improving.

I didn't like some of the new stuff, I miss the orchestra, and it seemed confusing where the dancers were, and the way Brooke would tell them to go to the dance floor after she spoke to them. I know I'm also going to have difficulty waiting an entire week to see who gets eliminated, but that's just because I need to know everything right away, lol.

Lazorkay 09-24-2013 04:16 AM

I am watching last night's show. My least favorites so far are Bill Nye, Keyshawn and
Elizabeth - Now this was as last week.

Elizabeth did amazing tonight! Still not a fan of Bill N and Keyshawn.

I was amazed a Nicole - she can move. There are quite a few to watch!

Lazorkay 10-01-2013 05:18 AM

The Lone Ranger - rides again! That was go good!

Ok, so Peta and Brent - great!!!

AS much as I don't want to like Derek - he dances soooo sooooo good.

I think it was time for Bill Nye to go.

Snookie - wow! I thought she did awesome.

•Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus....She is giving it her ALOL but looked so tired and worn out. :( :(•"Saved By the Bell" and "Showgirls" star Elizabeth Berkley will dance with Valentin Chmerkovskiy....She is great but not sure if I will be rooting for her. That may change.
•Amber Riley with Derek Hough....LOVIN her!!!! Hope Derek doesn't make her break the rules too often.
•Footballer Keyshawn Johnson and Sharna Burgessoug....Should not have gone first IMO.
•"High School Musical" star Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff....MAN! Did he GROW UP....LOL
•Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani....REALLY rooting for her but not sure how far she will go.
•"The Voice's" Christina Milian is paired with Mark Ballas.....No idea who she is but I think she did good.
•Bill Nye (yes, "The Science Guy") dancing with Tyne Stecklein....IMO should have been the first to go.
•"Pretty Little Liars" and "Army Wives" actor Brant Daugherty with Peta Murgatroyd....Don't know who he is either but he is doing good and he is EASY on the eyes....LOL
•Jack Osbourne with Cheryl Burke....I like him for some reason.
•"Blue Collar Comedy's" Bill Engvall and Emma Slater....WHAT a come back Lone Ranger.

What do you think?

I have been on a cruise so just watched the first show last night and part of the second one this morning.

jkstieber 10-01-2013 08:04 PM

It's tough for me this year, there's quite a few I really like. I've always been a fan of Leah Remini's, so I'd definitely like her to go far. I'm also really enjoying Brant and Corbin. I was also happy to see Bill Engvall improve this week, that Lone Ranger was incredible.

But I think my favorite is Jack Osbourne. I'm not sure why I like him so much, maybe because he's doing so well despite the fact he has M.S.

I'm not liking the new format of the show, however. I don't mind the elimination being a week later, but I miss the orchestra and having the stars sitting like they're in the audience just loses something for me.

Looks like it may be an interesting season.

Craftlover 10-09-2013 06:49 PM

Ladies, I'm not so sure about the new season. I was confused with the lay out of the studio. I don't know if I would like it without the orchestra.
Plenty of talent with the stars with the exception of a few.
Jack O. surprised me. I was expecting a foul mouth youth, but he was behaving well.
How sad about the baby. I heard that not only he has MS but a heart condition.

I know I shouldn't be shocked about some behaviors there but Snookie is trash. Did you hear her telling her partner that she " will sue his *** if he hurts her", is that necessary.

What's wrong with Cheryl Brooke she wasn't foul mouth all these years but I think she's turning trashy too.

Derek is the best choreographer ever in my opinion.

Lazorkay 10-10-2013 06:15 AM

I wonder who will go home next week? I think the bottom 3 were Jack, Bill and Brant.

I like all 3.

I'm confused about Christina - she is good, but I just don't have a " yes, she needs to stay" thought. I think that the next 3 weeks would be Jack, Bill and ?
Brant has had some great moments. While we may not be a Snookie fan - she is a good dancer. Saying that, Christina is too..... LOL

So, who will it be??????

Shirley Rae 10-14-2013 03:00 PM

Does anyone have any ideas about who will be tonight's winners?

jkstieber 10-14-2013 03:49 PM

I hope Bill stays. He's not the best dancer, but does have a great entertainment factor. I have no idea who will go home tonight, because with this new format of elimination a week later, I can't remember now who danced well and who didn't.

I think Corbin has an advantage over the other dancers in experience, which is something this show does that I do not appreciate. I feel that each dancer should come with a fair chance.

At this point I really couldn't predict who will make it to the finals.

jkstieber 10-14-2013 09:03 PM

Seems like at least once each season there's an episode that absolutely infuriates me and makes me want to stop watching. Tonight was that episode. But I know that next week Monday night I'll be watching again.

Sad ending, that's for sure.

missiowa81 10-14-2013 09:37 PM

You could certainly tell that Mark was ticked off. But that's what happens sometimes when viewers' votes are part of the equation.

I'm just not fired up about this season at all, so I don't really have strong feelings one way or the other about who gets sent home. I even worked through tonight's show! (I had it on while I worked, but I wasn't paying close attention.)

Lazorkay 10-15-2013 03:56 AM

I'm watching now, but when I turned on the computer, the elimination was front page.

Not surprised, but her dance last night was great. She might have been elim. due to people just not connecting. Brook is talking to Paris Hilton - give me a break!

I do like the singer they have on the show. Alo Black? I am gonna have to look for his music.

Lazorkay 10-15-2013 04:45 AM

I think Peta and Brant should have had 10's. Their dance was amazing and the costumes - so simple and elegant.

I don't think Amber and Derek deserved that 10 from Bruno, I agreed more with Len, but thought an 8 not a 7.

Craftlover 10-15-2013 05:36 AM

Please someone hit me on the chin, that might help close my mouth from last nights surprised ending.

The young lady IMO has done a great job, and it was a sad ending indeed.

jkstieber 10-15-2013 06:28 AM

I also thought it was incredibly tacky that Tom and Brook had to make the announcement at the beginning of the show about a female dancer being voted off. And I say had to because I'm quite certain it was not their idea to say that, just in their "script".

This show seems to be taking some desperate measures this year.

BabyNurse 10-15-2013 12:59 PM

I too thought it was terrible to announce that based on viewer votes alone that one of the female stars would be going home. As much as I like Leah, I think she should have been the one going. But on the other hand, I felt really bad for her knowing that she knew everyone was upset and wished it had been her. This is the first season I have not picked a favorite at all.

Lazorkay 10-15-2013 01:17 PM

I think tom said, that the last 2, weren't necessarily the last 2 - meaning Leah.

Aren't their ratings down against The Voice (another show I enjoy and record)? I think the announcement was a ploy to keep people watching, which I did, and do anyway, and was shocked like others at the outcome.

This season, I too don't have a favorite that I'm tied to emotionally. I watch/record Glee, so I think Amber is a terrific singer, I enjoy Country stuff, so Bill's comedy is so funny to me, and I admire the perseverance that every person goes through in dealing with personal struggles, so nothing really sets anyone apart for me. So, my heart won't stop if anyone goes home.....will I be surprised? maybe......but maybe after watching so many seasons, I'm not as invested as I used to be. Am I getting too jaded?????

Lazorkay 10-29-2013 03:37 AM

watching the show now - just watched Bill - after seeing this not so quick quick step - he should be the one going home - since he would have gone home last week.

Love ya Bill, but it just wasn't good.

Lazorkay 10-29-2013 04:20 AM

well, I didn't see this one coming.

Granny Hawkins 10-29-2013 02:24 PM

THAT was a shocker but okay with me.

jkstieber 10-31-2013 02:02 PM

To be honest, I was disappointed she had to leave. While I'm certainly not a fan of hers, her dancing was really improving and she was fun to watch. I don't think that Bill and Leah should still be there, the last two that have left are much better dancers than they are. But viewer votes are pretty much the only thing that matters.

Lazorkay 11-05-2013 05:01 AM

so unhappy!

jkstieber 11-05-2013 06:40 AM

I know, I didn't even bother watching last night. I'm on the West Coast and somehow the results came up on my homepage. Maybe I'll start watching again when they get to the finals, but until this show is about dancing and not who has the biggest fan base, I'll be watching something else on Monday nights.

Not to mention, I'm not a huge fan of Cher.

Lazorkay 11-12-2013 06:21 AM

Bill should have went home.

Now, I'm just really pi**ed!

missiowa81 11-12-2013 09:33 AM

Yeah, this is the first week I felt a little miffed about who was eliminated. Elizabeth was becoming one of my favorites and it was obvious that she and Val were really hitting it off--in a sweet way.

Bill definitely should have gone home. He must have a huge fan base. And I think the judges are giving him scores higher than he really deserves --I don't care if it's no longer week 1 or 2. If he deserves a 6, you give a 6! (Carrie Ann herself said last night that his lack of rhythm/musicality drives her crazy, but then she forgets all about it because she likes him so much.)

I agree with the last two postings. I'm really surprised at the "dancing" they are sending home. Of course, if I'm not going to be an avid voter, I guess I can't complain, but this last week, Bill hardly moved his feet! Hard to compare that with what Elizabeth did and then she went home.

Perhaps this year the winner will be more on popularity and not on ability. Won't that be a surprise for the show?

Lazorkay 11-19-2013 05:08 AM

I'm still watching - but Jack just finished his 2nd dance - and he was wonderful!

I see Corbin, Amber and Jack as the top 3. I don't think Jack will win - but I wouldn't mind if he did - that Argentine Tango was just - well speechless.

Still don't know who went home, but Bill should really go.

Craftlover 11-19-2013 06:31 AM

Now, it's obvious to everyone that Bill stays because of his fan base and not his dancing ability.

I don't agree with the personal packets they put together, to me it's a sympathy vote.
Individual voters can read by themselves to get informed.

My top favorites are Jack O. Derek most likely will win because he's a fantastic choreographer and his young partner is fantastic. He brings the best out of her.

Last night Bill barely moved his feet and I like him a lot to tell the truth, but dancing is dancing.

Lazorkay 11-19-2013 11:54 AM

I would think that all those that voted for Brant and Elizabeth would vote for one of the others and Bill wouldn't keep staying.

Leah went home - not upset, just think Bill should have went before her.

That Jazz number by Derek and Amber was awesome.

jkstieber 11-19-2013 01:51 PM

Last night was the first time in about a month I've watched. I've kept up with what's going on, however. Bill has improved since I saw him last, but not enough that he should be in the finals. He's a very likable guy, but he doesn't dance nearly as well as the others. I also like Leah a lot, but she has not been that great to watch either.

My guess at this point would be (but who knows) is that Corbin and Amber will be 1 and 2 (not necessarily in that order, could go either way) Jack will be 3rd and Bill will be 4th.

I sure wonder how Jack's father could ever have been a performer, he can hardly speak a coherant sentence! Never been much of an Ozzy fan.
