I've read the first 6 books in the series and now I'm taking a break.
I love the series, with only one exception. I wish they will translate in English when they speak Gaelic. I would like to know the dialog exchange.

I watched the series, and read the first book. Good TV show. Looking forward to the next season after that last episode.

Yes! I'm chompin' at the bit for season 2! Not a fan of all the graphic stuff, but I absolutely LOVE the story line.

Yes it is graphic; that's the time I look elsewhere but the tv screen.
The last episode in prison it's not for the faint of heart; was mind and heart wrenching.

For those who read Diana Gabaldon books especially the ''Outlander'' series I would like to know how you feel about them.
I like the books a lot but 111 chapters per book it's too much.
I feel She can accomplish the same story in 50 chapters.
Anyway it's worth the hours spent.

I've only read the first two books (didn't want to get too far ahead of the series), and watched the first season. Now I can hardly wait for season two, love it!! Just saw today where they have cast Briana, a lovely British actress named Sophie Skelton; looks like she'll fit right in.

Wow! Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
In the books say she's 6 feet tall, I wonder how tall the actress is.

Definitely! I still cry when I watch that last episode. Definitely am anxious for S2 to come. I read a sampling of the 2nd book via Kindle and it did not make any sense to me...so looking forward to seeing the episodes.

Carol

I will read the second book again cause I agree with you it jumps around and can be confusing.
As for Brianna, I don't understand why she's in season 2 when in actuallity she doesn't appear until book 3.
Anyway, the actress is lovely to look at.

I have the Kindle app through my iPad.
If you sign up for audible in Amazon for your kindle, they give 2 free audio books.
I selected book 2 & 3 for free. Dragonfly in Amber & Voyager.
Books 4,5,& 6 I checked out from the public library.
I prefer audio cd's, it leaves my hands free for my crafts.

I'm reading book 2, in fact almost done, and she's in this one; it started it off with her and her mom.....remember? I'm sure that will be a change in the show.

Thank you so much. You are right. I had forgotten the story line of Briana in book 2. I read it so long ago the present time escaped me.
I did read it again and there were so many details that I had forgotten all about.

Can't wait for next month.

Have you seen the trailers to the next season yet? Looking good!

And I've read all the books, and got a couple of the Lord John ones to, still need to read them tho.
She's very wordy, that's what frustrates me the most with her books. I think she needs a "crueler" editor! Help her cull the word count!

Hey Terri, I'm with you, there's so much can be unsaid in the books.

Last night I watched an early release of the premier of Outlander season 2, episode 1.

Being a subscriber to Starz I downloaded the free app on my iPad and was able to see the premiere.

Lucky you! Was it true to the book? Or are they changing it a bit?

Hi Terri,
The premiere was true to the book but not in correct sequence.
It starts with Claire returning to her true time (194.
The book starts with Claire and a 20 year old daughter.

Were you able to see season 1, overseas?
How long are you staying in SA?
My husband was in the military for 27 yrs.
Are you allowed to say in what branch you are serving?

God Bless you for keeping us safe.
Be careful and come back safe to your loved ones.

BTW, I like your blog, you are very talented.

We have unhooked from cable so there is no way I'll see season two until I get the DVDs, my Christmas present to myself. I forgot how graphic some of the scenes might be and hubby and daughter thought I was quite risque. Daughter sped through some if the scenes so they missed some important dialogue! I agree that she's a very wordy author; I've read the entire series and feel the last two aren't as good as the others. I don't know that I'll reread them as I did the others. Season two should be fun! ! !

I sure am enjoying S2! I sort of enjoy the changes. When you've read the book, tweaking the show a bit, makes it fun to be just different enough to surprise you every so often. The costumes and the sets this season are just amazing; they have really outdone themselves, in my opinion. A nice change from S1. Wonder what they will do with S3!

Hi Irene, to answer some of your questions.
Our iTunes account is based in Australia so we are able to download content from there without needing a VPN. That said I was rather surprised to see Season one pop up on Netflix here recently, we use a VPN for Netflix because Saudi have only just started letting people use it, so the content is very limited.
This is a 3 year post, we're nearly halfway.
This is year 28 for the other half!
We're just attached to our embassy, this is a diplomatic post and there are only two uniformed personnel, him and the boss.

My apologies for not replying to your questions early, I've been out of the country (Diplomatic Duties!) and then spent 5 days in hospital with my son who had a burst appendix!! One way to learn how the local health system works!

Thanks for liking my blog!

I've read and reread all the books countless times and love the whole package deal. I'm really enjoying the show. I follow some Facebook groups where the extreme fans freak when the series alters the books in the least little bit. Can't wait for the next episode tomorrow night but I won't get to see it until Sunday night!

Hey all, hope your watching is proving enjoyable. I've decided that I'll get the whole season once it's finished airing and binge watch. I checked the air dates and it seems that this season won't have huge gaps in it, yay!!

On the funny side, in a book shop here in Saudi on the weekend and found the Outlander colouring in book (you know the trend for adult colouring books!) I was so tempted to have a peek, but didn't.

Hi Terri,
It was an OMG. I watched it 3 times already and cried every time.
If Balfe ( Claire ) doesn't get the Emmy award I will be amazed.

Have you seen any episodes yet from season 1?

I'll pm you soon, that's why I'm so late responding to your last message.

They starting production next month or September for season 3.
The books and particularly the series is addictive.

Gabaldon is writing a continuation book to Outlander series.

Hugs and be safe.

I have lots to say about the season finale but do we have a rule in place about "spoilers"? I know on many of the Facebook groups all episodes of the show are fair game because the books have been out for so long. Any thoughts? Can I or should I give my detailed opinion at this point? I love it is all I will say for now lol!

Leslie, I don't have an answer to your question.
But I do remember a few years ago, we were discussing Downton Abbey, and the majority didn't want any spoilers from the ladies from England.
They viewed the series before the US.

I also have read the books more than once, because I forget some details.

The internet was full with likes and deslikes.
Viewers wanted the story be the same as the book.
It would have been nice, to read the credits and then start complaining.

It says, it's adapted from the books of Diana Gabaldon.
O well, whatever.
I know that the books and the series is addictive.

I've read the books, so just enjoy seeing it on the screen. My understanding is that some things are a bit different, and ordered differently.

All okay here Irene, missed the dramas in Istanbul (but boy the other airports in the region went a little bit crazy that day!) and missed the dramas at home. My husband's translator rang him as he was at the Medina site, so a bit close for our friends. Back home again now, summer, blah!

The costumes!!! Squeal!!!!!

Looking really true to the books, things slightly out of sequence, but important things, still there.

Just wait, it gets better......😊
The tragedy at the airport in Instanbul was horrible.
I'm glad my sister and mother changed their flight plans.
They had planned to fly out from there, instead the Athens airport because the lower prices are significant.
They are coming back from Greece next week. Better safe than sorry.

I remember ... Arab gunmen open fire on a crowded passenger lounge at Athens airport. ... 1973.
When I left Las Vegas for Athens a week later I saw first hand the damage a bomb can do. Thankfully only 3 victims at the time.

Just finished episode 7, knew it was all going to happen, but that one was a pretty emotional ride. Think i need a break before I watch any more. Maybe I should go make some cards! Haha!

Irene are your sister and mum ok? Glad they changed their flights as the region has become very unstable. We've heard nothing from our friends in Turkey yet, (DA's families etc) one of the US girls was there last week, but i think it was a short stop as she was going home for summer holidays. Haven't heard from any of the Turkish DA's wives yet, hoping and praying for them as several are in Istanbul and Ankara.

It was heartbreaking indeed.
I really liked the way they followed the book.
Can't wait for season 3.

My mom and sister will be flying out for the US tomorrow.
I can only pray they have a safe trip.

I have family visiting, so I'm so behind on this site!!!

I too loved the finale!!! Like you Leslie, I still cry when I watch that last episode, and I think I've seen it 3 times as well. I want to watch it again along with the podcast commentary by Ron Moore off the Starz.com website. It's great if you've never done that, because they tell you what they were going through, thinking, filming issues with the various scenes. It's a cool behind the scenes "in-depth" look.

Now to wait for S3!!!! I was disappointed no acting emmy nominations, because it was a great season...... Guess you can't have everything!
