Default TLC80 - Foamy Fun

Happy Labor Day! This week is a repeat of TLC17.
Please put TLC80 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you need help uploading or posting a link to this thread, check out this link.

This week's challenge is Fun Foam Stamping. Fun Foam can be found in any craft store. It comes in many colors and usually is used in kids' crafts.

Here's mine so you get the idea:
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=3

Here is how to do it:
Cut off a piece of foam a little bit larger than your chosen stamp. Bold stamps without a lot of line detail work best for this technique. Using your heat gun, heat the foam until it curls a little bit...flip it over and heat the other side too. Quickly press your (uninked) stamp into the hot foam. Press hard and keep it there for about 10-15 seconds. Lift off the stamp, and you will have a lovely impression of the stamp! Trim around the image, and use on your card.

Here's the best part about working with fun foam, I think. Don't like what you did? Just heat the foam back up and your stamped image just disappears and you can try again!

I would like to thank my dear friend Carla for showing me how to do this last summer! Thanks, Carla!

I know you all will come up with some fabulous designs using Fun Foam. Have fun!

This will be fun, and I love Beth's pocket fun sample. I've seen fun foam in stores but haven't tried it yet. Looking forward to it

Beth, you're making me dig through a lot of craft cabinets to come up with fun foam. I haven't used it in years!!

I have a question for those who have tried this technique before: will this work with sticky back foam? (that's all that I have come up with this am!!) Didn't know if it would make the "glue" do something funky!!

I don't know....I would be afraid that the glue would get all gunky and funky too. Does anyone else have any words of advice??

Just got a moment to try this with the sticky back foam....it APPEARS to work!! (I'm still in the cutting out stage, haven't peeled off the glue backing...but thought that I would let you know!!). I don't know if my impressions are as defined as what I've seen you other girls do (I'm tending not to heat too much for fear of bubbling the glue). Finished product in the works and then you can see for yourselves!!

Well I have never tried this before.........kind of fun but somewhat challenging to transfer the foam to a card.

I'm doing a demo at the end of the month where there will be a couple of kids present as well as mom's of young kids. I promised that I would show them a new technique. I think that this will fit the bill perfectly.

Just tried this using white foam and a stamp pad and it colored well. I also used q-tips to paint from an ink pad and from a reinker bottle. It worked fine. I'm letting it dry and we'll see how it looks. We'll see how/if it dries. I'll get back to ya!

Well, here are the results using the sticky back foam. (forgot to add that I heated the foam with the paper on, flipped it over to the foam side, heated and then put the stamp on, cut and removed the paper and stuck!!) Seems to work fine...now if I could only say the same for my layout!! ANYHOW!!! It was fun to try something new!!! Thanks Beth for the challenge!!

Here is my entry. This is my first time ever to play with fun foam. A friend gave me a piece a long time ago but I just never got it out to work with.

Here is an old one I did but never uploaded-I also added embossing powder to the foam so that it would mimic the look of the alligator skin.
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...358798&cat=742

I will be pulling out my foam and trying something with it again this evening.

Beth, thank you so much for your on-going commitment here.. and the fab work you've done!! I'm new to stamping and all these techniques and challenges have really opened a new world for me. I have foam and will attempt a card this week! I still haven't mastered our scanner or downloading our dig camera pics to computer.. DH has been in charge.

Here are mine. I experimented with coloring with ink pads, reinkers and pastels. The inks muted and didn't stay vibrant. The pastels stayed as they originally were, bright and easy to combine.
