Default TLC634 ~Flower Pounding/Flower Pressing~ {4/17/17}

Happy Easter, everyone! The King is alive and the bunny has hopped! I pray you had a peaceful and restful weekend!!! I am still on vacay and asked my family several times to help me to remember to post on time... a lot of good they are. HA! Apologies for the late post. I'm pretty sure you'll find this technique very intriguing.

The technique I'm sharing with you for this week's Technique Lover's Challenge gives you TWO choices.

FLOWER POUNDING

or

FLOWER PRESSING

The first one uses a hammer of some kind... metal, wooden, rubber... your choice. And the second one uses a die cutting machine (such as a Big Shot.)

Both choices of this technique require LIVE FLOWERS.

I love creating flower pounded images this time of year to store away for later when the beautiful fresh blooms aren't so fresh in our gardens or our minds.

Here's how to achieve the FLOWER POUNDING Technique...

1. Place fresh flowers between two pieces of neutral colored cardstock.

2. Pound the cardstock sandwich, pressing the flower's ink onto the cardstock.

3. Peel cardstock apart and remove flower pieces to discard.

4. Use flower inked cardstock in paper arts project.

And here's how to achieve the FLOWER PRESSING Technique (although I prefer to call this "Die Machine Flower Pressing simply because it isn't the classic "Flower Pressing" between to books to save a flower)...

1. Repeat step 1 listed above.

2. Sandwich the cardstock sandwich between two cuttting plates of a die cut machine and run through machine on a platform base.

3. and 4. Repeat steps 3 & 4 listed above.

HERE is my Clean Flower Pounding Bible Journaling page...

HERE is my Flower Pounded Heart Bible Journaling page...

HERE is my Flower Pressed Crabapple...

It's almost magical watching these two techniques take place! Especially the Flower Pressing!!! Have fun with it! Experiment! Embrace the mess! Be an artist! And be sure to share your creations in the...

Love this technique. However, I'd be pretty hard pressed (pun intended) to find live flowers this early in the year, other than a few dandelions. I may have to try them.

DO IT!!! I would love to see how they turn out!!!

Our crabapple tree has already come and gone We were just in Savannah for spring break three weeks ago and we missed all of their gorgeous azellia bushes and rodedrindrum bushes (I'm not even sure if I'm spelling those correctly but I was sad to see they had already bloomed and we missed them so early.)

Default BIG TIP

Perhaps one of my sweet hostess buds will edit the original post with this tip. We are literally driving 14 hours home and I can't figure out how to edit from my phone. But here's the tip...

Try to eliminate big stems from the flowers before pounding or pressing. The stems tend to cause the petals to be completely overlooked by the mallet or the machine.

I have two videos in my Bible Journaling sessions on my Always Stampin' Videos YouTube channel where you can watch me doing both techniques. If someone doesn't post them before I get home to my PC, I'll share them with you then

Wow, I made a lot of noise pounding on things. DH actually turned up the volume on Let's Make a Deal. I will try again when I find some flowers with deeper colors. Here is my card today, and I used the flower pounding technique. TFL

Back from the Retina Dr and he says all looks good - YEAH!! I did ALOT of cards with this technique last summer so I know from experience (at least with my garden) to stay away from anything PINK - They all left a bown or gray impression last year so today I went with blue Flax and gazanias. Here's my card:

I like the pressing rather than the pounding! I'm too wild with pounding!! Either way I wonder if it is best to wait until the flowers are a little more dry later in the day than doing the pressing/pounding with early morning dew filled flowers??
I have mine ready to share as soon as I do school run....
