Default TLC629 ~ Die Cut Masking ~ {3/13/17}

A couple of months ago, Dina posted an amazing Wednesday tutorial called DIE CUT MASKING. Her written instructions are wonderful, and the video is even better. There are options for all sorts of different things to do. So....have a look and enjoy making a project using DIE CUT MASKING for today's Technique Lovers Challenge!

Heart TLC629 CC625 Happy Shamrock

Great challenge, thanks! I had fun sponging around this die cut shamrock- added a tag and washi tape borders, along with a mini lace border. Finished with a button/twine combo. Combined with this week's color challenge. Here's Happy Shamrock

Smile TLC629 CAS420 Greenery Thanks

Had fun making a masculine card, using die cut holly leaves, both as masking elements and for embellishments- did some sponging and direct to paper stamping- and added a mossy ribbon border/mini brad combo. Finished with a twine tie for this week's Things with Strings challenge. Here's Greenery Thanks

Totally fun challenge Judy, even though my first try at this turned into a comedy of errors! (see description) I've come to realize every time I try one of these technique challenges, it ends up costing me MORE money LOL - Because now that I've invested in lots of intricate delicate dies, I find I will definitely need some bolder more solid die cuts to really do this technique justice!! Anyway Here is my card:

I used a piece of colored card stock for my die cut piece - not sure if that was ok. At any rate, it was fun and got me out of my box a bit. Leaves Galore by Luv Flowers - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I did largely stamp over my masked areas, but I followed the tutorial up to that point. I was too tired to plan my card very well . I'd definitely like to try this again, I liked the suggesting of running the piece of card through the BS to get a good seal before using wet media - which is what I'd really love to try. Maybe over the holiday weekend :mgreen:.

A more-is-more following of the tutorial , no stamping over my masked areas this time. I did like the tip of running the piece of card through the BS to help the die-cut adhere, because any other time I've used Frisket with a wet technique, it's always bled a little.
