Excellent TLC, Beth! I've never tried this so I can't wait to get home and turn on my heat gun!

Okay, so I have never done one of the daily card challenges, but I happened to see this one today. I had to make 10 birthday cards for a swap today, so I thought I'd give it a whirl! What a great challenge!

Here is mine: (pending approval of course!)

Sheesh, one little piece of ribbon was seriously challenging me. My finger tips are a little blistered, I blew a piece of ribbon across the room, don’t thing I will ever find ribbon #3, but hey it’s art. Once I got the hemostats out all was ok!

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=35303

Thanks for taking a look.

OK, here we go. I think curling made the cards more interesting. I had never actually tried this so, thanks for the push.

Edited to add new link, the old one was inadvertently deleted (pending):

and a different style all together:

I seem to relate heated ribbon with aged and vintage looking. Here's mine! I love heating the ribbon. I wish I could tell you I didn't have about three attempts that are laying in the trash before I got one that worked OK. : )

I hadn't really heated ribbon before so this was a fun challenge for me. I really like the effect so I plan on doing it more often. Thanks again for the push.

Default TLC_51 Sizzling Ribbon

Here's my challenge card. The template is a "demo it" card in the March 2006 Stampin' Success. I just changed the ribbon. Note to self: DON'T heat the silver/gold/copper cord. It doesn't work!

I had time to do another this evening. I like the way this one turned out more than the first - I think it's because I used the wider organdy.

Here it is : http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=39053

Beth, Gosh.....what a thrill to have my suggested technique picked. I think it works best to tie your ribbon onto your card stock and then heat. Your ribbon can cause the CS to curl a little, but it will straighten out when you attach to your main CS, especially if you use sticky strip. It is a fun technique and you never know how it is going to turn out........different everytime. Be sure and cut your ribbon longer than normal because it really does shrink up. Have fun, Nancy

I did the heated ribbon card today. It came out real nice. Since I have just starterd doing the challenges, I wound up doing 3 in 1. I did a color challenge, square tag, and heated ribbon. Whenever I learn to download my pictures off my digital camera on to the computer, and then to upload them, I would like to start my gallery. Maybe before too long.

The only other time I have done this is when I made a technique book 3 years ago, it was great to use it again but I just wish I had wide ribbon.

I have burned more ribbon than has made it to my cards. Definitely takes a gentle touch with that heat gun! It's downright scary . . . .

Here are a few from my gallery. I am Valentined out, so not stamping tonight.

Wow... this was definitely a challenge for me! I struggled with heating the ribbon without burning it so I ended up using really small heated pieces. Here's my challenge card:

This technique looks really cool, but NOT fun to do. I think the trick is to slowly bring your heat gun in close to the ribbon & quickly pull it back as soon as you see the ribbon start to crinkle. Don't hold it there.

Here's my crinkled ribbon.

This is my first TLC challenge attempt. Hopefully I'll attach the link correctly. My heating tool gets so hot. I've tried several times this morning and have had no luck! My ribbon either did nothing, or melted. I've done this technique in the past with no problems, but unfortunately, didn't scan the cards before giving them away. Maybe it's the weather, it's very cold today.

Well, here goes, hope it works:

This makes the ribbon look so cool! I had to make a V Day card, so I used the technique this week for that. I still need to do last week's challenge that I didn't have time for!! Thanks Beth!

Thanks for the challenge, Beth! The heated ribbon definately challenged me (you can read all about it my link), but I think in the end it provided that finishing touch I needed. I finally opted to tie the ribbon onto the card before heating (after trying it the other way first) because I found that heating it first made the ribbon brittle & prone to breaking when I tried to pull as I was tying. I combined with today's color challenge.

Grateful...

Hee, Hee......Beth,.......I just "Had" to do this weeks TLC! I did combine with Lindsey's CC49. I cut out my vase and then tied ribbon around vase and held onto vase with tongs and then heated. So fun watching the ribbon do its curling thing. Enjoy my very springtime B-day card. Nancy
