TLC331 ~ Name That Technique ~ (06/27/11)
Hi Stampers!
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been goofing around with different ideas for techniques. I have some of my most creative moments when Im just playing with no result in mind. Sometimes I take an older technique and try to either update it or use the newer supplies and tools to make it easier.
~ Name That Technique ~
Todays technique is in its infancy. In fact, it doesnt even have a name yet! Were going to have a little fun with that. First Im going to tell you what to do.
The idea is to create a sort of window with some of your image showing on the window frame.
- Stamp an image on cardstock (base image)
- Measure the image at its widest and tallest points
- Create a (what Im calling) a negative mask using either dies or punches ~
(mine looks like two window panes)
- Your cutouts need to be small enough to allow part of the image to spill onto the frame
- Stamp the same image on the negative mask
- Color your 1st image using coloring medium of your choice
- Color the parts of your image that show on the negative mask
** Try using different colors on the negative mask from what you use on the base
** Try embossing your frame or dressing it up in some other way.
Now heres the fun part. Im asking for help in naming this technique! If you want to play along in the naming of the technique, please put your name in the description of your card upload.
Here's my sample:
~ Name that Technique ~
Please remember to use KEYWORD TLC331 (no spaces) on upload.
You can view the TLC331 gallery HERE.
Have fun!!

Here's my suggestion for a name for your technique: Double Take. I may try it later on.

A very cool technique! I couldn't come up with a name, but I do think the suggestion of "Over the Edge" is both catchy and descriptive. I'll try to play later.

What a cool technique. I love window cards like that. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it someday.
The name "inside and out" popped into my head when I saw the samples.

I haven't made a card yet to play along but looking through the gallery of uploads so far...the first thing that came to mind for a name of the technique is High Def Frames! It almost is as if the images come alive like images on an HDTV! I'm going to see if I can play along today, feeling a little under the weather!

Over the edge sounds like the perfect name for this tecnique. I am voting for jdmommy's name. it's perfect. we are stamping over the edge of the windows. "Over the Edge", I like it.

Fun technique. It reminded me a bit of the Reverse Spotlight, except that we were colouring both layers. And the fact that I was happy with my TLC331 Framed Snowmen by Cook22 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers whereas the time I tried Reverse Spotlight I threw it in the bin.
Thanks, Holly.

Maybe Framed Spotlighting? I don't know about the name, but I think it is a cool idea for a technique. Here's my Embedded Petals where I combined embossing, inset embossing and the challenge technique.

I am a bit vague today - how do you get the 2 images to line up perfectly or does it not really matter where it gets stamped onto the frame?
TIA.

What an interesting challenge! I really struggled with this one! I had to walk away for awhile and then come back to it, but in the end I am happy with it! Thanks again for a great challenge....this really got me way outside my little zone!
