Default TLC280 ~ Paper Posies ~ (07/05/10)

Hi Friends,

I want to thank you all for giving Joan such a warm welcome last week. Having Joan co-hosting with me is such a blessing.

~ Paper Posies ~

Or roses, or pansies, or whatever you like. That's the challenge this week. Lately I have been seeing so many different amazing flowers made with punches. I have always loved the ones that Sherry Cheever (BadSherry) makes. You can see her tutorial on her blog ~ Walkin on the bad Side. I also love this crepe paper flower by Terri on the Artful Affirmations blog. I couldn't find the tutorial, but ribbon flowers are all the rage, too! If you do a search for "paper flowers" in the gallery, you will pull up lots more.

The idea is to use anything OTHER THAN a pre-made flower, Stamps or flower punch to create a flower for your card.

Here is my sample:

~How Kind of You~

When uploading your creation, please remember to use KEYWORD TLC280 (no spaces).

You can find the entire TLC280 gallery HERE.

Now go create!

Sounds like a terrific Technique challenge with lots of options. I'll try to get something done and posted tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.

I couldn't believe the challenge when I read it, making flowers is my favourite thing to do. The irony of the timing is I spent hours today making 4 cards for a class I'm teaching each card using a different type of hand crafted flower. Unfortunately they didn't meet the criteria for this challenge as they were die cut flowers. I had a thought to try to create ribbon roses that look like those loose chiffon flowers used as a border on cards. Mine don't look exactly the same but I love the way they turned out and I will be sewing a whole lot more of them tomorrow. Here's mine LOVE

Just checking, with paper in the title does it have to be paper flowers? I'm just a bit confused because you mention ribbon in the body of the text.
I'll look forward to doing something with this after work - and after I get DH's birthday cake in the oven . Usually I just use a heart punch, so I'll try to ring the changes on that.
Thanks, Holly.

Yeah, I thought the title was ketchy, so I went with it, but you can definitely do ribbon flowers. Anything except a flower punch, stamp or die, ok?

Thank you for the challenge! I made a paper rose as in Julie William's tutatorial. I forgot to put the link in my description. I will have to go back and edit. Anyway, I already took it over to a lady friend in rehab and she loved it! So, I guess it turned out okay. Even thought it doesn't look like Julie's.

Here is mine.

This was fun! Here's my not-paper, but ribbon flower card. My only problem was finding ribbon that was soft enough to gather. Most of my ribbon is paper-y and stiff. I'll have to dig out some lace, which should work as well.

This was a hoot to make. Thanks Holly. I hope I didn't cheat because the title was Paper Posies. I went with the "anything other than premade" clause and I had a ball. Here it is.

Default TLC280 A Rose is A Rose

HERE is mine. I watched Sherrie's tutorial on the paper flowers ... I didn't have the same die that she used so I used my Nested Poinsettia dies. They didn't curl like hers did but my paper is a little thin so that may be why. Anyway, I am pleased with the outcome. I had so much fun putting this together - thanks for the challenge!
