OK, I was cruising through the website to just look for ideas. Ran across this Acetate Treat Box and thought "Wow, I have to try this!" So, I'm shopping in my mind at Costco, figuring that if they carry acetate - or not - that'll cost me at least $100, but well worth the price for such a cute 3D. THEN, I notice that this challenge was posted just YESTERDAY!!! Thank you for the inspiration and the challenge! The other posts are so beautiful! I was always scared of 3D items - then forced myself to join an organized swap at Convention this year and am HOOKED!!! Add to that that this will be my first challenge taken on splitcoaststampers, and I'm just shy the chocolate for my own little piece of heaven (Costco sells chocolate...hmmmm).

Well, it's lunch and Costco is calling (if not there, Target is close by!)

Thanks, Lynn for the Challenge and thanks to Susie for the great tutorial!!!

Whoa!!! Back up the truck. I bought Acetate sheets at my LSS and they were only 75 cents each. That, or scrounge around the house for a plastic box lid or plastic 'glass' frame ... $100? is Costco's acetate edged in 14K? (or maybe you're like me and all the OTHER stuff I get will add up to $100?)

Um...yea...it's all the OTHER stuff. My husband and I call it the "Costco Curse" And, just in case any one was wondering, no acetate at Costco right now...heehee. AND I made it out of Costco for around $110

The hardest part of this technique for me was trying to line up the holes in the top and the acetate box to attach the ribbon. But I do like the way it turned out!

Default 2468 acetate box

I would just love to make some of these. I have the directions but I am missing something. I have the measurements for the acetate but I don't have the measurements for the cardstock. I think I am really being dumb now. THs acetate measures 8 1/4 by 3/12. The cardstock directions is where I am lost could anyone please please help me.

Thanks

By looking at the picture I would say the total dimension of the top would be 8-1/2" by 2-1/2", scored as shown on the instructions.

I printed out the pdf file and clearly has the cardstock measurements -- do you not have pdf? Anyway, Lynn is right, it's 8.5 x 2, but the .5 is a little tab, so you have most of the piece as 8x2.

How can something that looks so easy be so time consuming. Someone earlier said that acetate has a mind of its own, boy are they right. I went to Staples to find acetate after this challenge was posted. I asked for acetate and they looked at me like I was from Mars. I said it is the stuff your on overheads, the transparencies. Still nothing, they said they did not carry it which I thought was strange. Today I was back in there with my DH and while he was getting what he needed I was brousing and guess what I found. A whole section of different transparencies right there in plain site. DUH! Well anyway here are mine. I made two for my twin granddaughters to give their teachers.

Where can I find Acetate? Is thi something that can be purchased in bulk and cut to the size needed or do we have to buy the acetate box and use the size we find?

Acetate is also overhead transparencies that can be found at office supply stores or stores such as Target, Walmart, etc.

HELP!!!! - - I posted in GENERAL STAMPING TALK - - Why can't I get this.............the top and bottom bases came out fine, but even looking at the directions the scoring and the 8.1/2 width doesn't add up to the top and base - - - am I the ONLY ONE who can't get this?

I NEED HELP FAST - - my CLUB is TUESDAY!! Everyone's photos are adorable but sure look bigger than what I thought.

HELP!!!!!

I have not made this yet...
but the measurements sound
right to me.
Good Luck!!

8 1/4 width...scoring at every 1 15/16
so this will fit into the top & bottom base.
